Great camera

I have been using the 10IS for about 3 months and it is great, everything works like it should. The image stabilization works well and allows handheld telephoto and low light photography that I would not be able to do without it.
I recomend using Ni MH rechargables, it goes through alakaline batteries pretty fast.
There are a ton of options and capibilities that the menus do a good job of organizing.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance

As an old canon 35mm user I find this camera to be a great value with good quality and lots of functions. Takes a while to get through the information and a few items in the owners book were a little confusing. Sound on the video is terrific. I found the sound on a few other digital cameras I have owned to be poor and not loud enough. I believe this is the best camera in its price range. I am also a zoom and macro junkie and this camera covers all of the bases. I have an old AE1 with a 400mm lens for long shots and although it is still a great camera I can get out farther with this camera at about 10% of the weight.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, zoom is great

Best camera, well worth the price

I just returned from Italy and I have around 1000 pictures that I took with this camera. They turned out better than any of my other pictures from other camers. This camera is easy to use, it's not very heavy, and it just plain takes great pictures. The other guys on my team all said they wanted copies of my pictures once we returned home. I really love the zoom, but if your going to zoom all the way you should use a tripod or some sort of stand to steady it. I used a fence post one day and got a great shot of a person really far away, and it turned out fantastic.
I love the fact that the view screen can be moved in different directions. It allows me to take pictures over crowds by adjusting the screen so I can see it, and then holding the camera up high to take the picture. This feature is awesome. I also tried out the video and it works great too. It has good sound quality, and looks great once you put it on a larger screen. I look forward to many more beautiful pictures with this camera. If your thinking of buying your first camera, or upgrading your old one, this is the one to get. The only negative feature is that there is nothing to keep you from loosing the lens cap. It is not attached to the camera by a strap or anything like that. I just took it off and put it in my pocket while I walked around. When I was done taking pictures then I would put it back on.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable, adjustable screen
Cons: no strap for the lens cap

Exceptional Camera!

I picked the camera up on a whim and was I ever pleased with my decision. The quality of the photos is outstanding. Coupled with the zoom capability, I get exceptional results each and every time I pick the camera up. I've quit using my DSLR! The first try at a full moon photo resulted in phenomenal results! Love at first click!
The only complaint I have is minor and that is the slow sports mode. Now I've read that the SX1 is out and believe me - it's got to be a winner since it increases that speed tremendously. Great camera for the money too.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable
Cons: a little slow in sports mode

I love this camera, I've had the two before it and sold those to my friends and they fell in love with them too. I bought this one when I had the chance to go all out and get a digital slr but I couldn't pass the powershot SX10 IS up. I'ts just a wonderful camera and I couldn't think of any better options to be able to use while photographing.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, durable

The Best Powershot Yet
on March 2, 2009
Posted by: Pilot850
I bought this not to replace, but to supplement my A630 which was getting out of date. This is my favorite still camera yet. It has incredible zoom, great image quality, excellent price, and all the features I could possibly want. I would suggest this to anybody needing a great camera, while on a tight budget.
Pros: Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, great value

I notice there was a pixal burn in the picture. It would happen when taken in low light. everytime I zoom in on the finished picture i would see this white dot in every picture.
But other then that this is a great camera. I can't carry it around with me everywhere but having the 20x zoom is still so worth it.
Pros: Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance
Cons: Short battery life

Happy New Photographer!

This is truly an amazing camera! I am fairly new to digital photography; in fact, the SX10 IS is my first digital camera purchase (I was given a 3.0 MP camera a few years ago). What I like best: 20x zoom- absolutely stunning telephoto shots with a great image-stabilizing feature! Also: Super Macro setting means you can focus from 0 mm and get amazing close-ups; easy to learn controls; a wide variety of functions and features, custom and manual modes for full control over your photos, and a versatile, easy-to-see LCD screen. Good battery life with NiMH rechargeable batteries. This camera is very fun to use, and it takes high quality photos and videos. I took one star off of the "Features" rating because I wish it had RAW capability and HD video, but then the camera would be much higher-priced (See the SX1 IS), so it's really not that big of a deal. Overall, I am very happy!
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, good battery life, durable, excellent macro
