So far it is great

I have only had the camera for alittle over 1 month. I had the s3is and decided to up grade. The canon seems to be great and all I want in a camera. Like the canons point and shoot better than the SLRs because it is quite a chore to lugg all the lenses. If you do not take all of them the one you don't take is the one you need. With the sx10is and the s3is everything is there. Might loose some image quality but not enough to to make up the inconvience of lugging the lenses. This is my fourth digital camera.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, good battery life, durable

Great Digital Camera / Video Too

I purchased this camera during Dec. 2008 as a Christmas present for wife and myself. We upgraded from an Olympus 3.2 MP 10X digital camera. The quality of the pics and videos (stereo sound) is outstanding! The 20X zoom with up to 80X digital is excellent. The Image Stabilization and Face Detection work great. I really love the 2.5" LCD that swings out and is tiltable for great shots above head or below!
Pros: easy to use, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality
Cons: Heavy/Bulky, no battery meter, lens cap is not attached

I wanted to get back into photography and I needed the right digital camera. When I saw the SX10 IS, I knew this was the one. I"m familiar with the quality and performance of Canon cameras, so...why not keep with a new tradition?
Pros: easy to use, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance
Cons: Heavy/Bulky

Solid well made camera.
I prefer the feel of a slightly heavier camera.
Replaced Alkalai Batteries with Nickely Hyrdride metal
rechargable battleries. Recommended.
Easy to operate.
Easy to set various camera modes.
Auto functions very well.
Selecting portrait, landscape, inside shot etc is simple.
You will like the 20x optical lens. If you are looking for
a camera that you can tuck away in your shirt, this
is not for you. More of a professional camera although
still a very sophisticated point and shot camera.

Best camera I ever had!

I have not bought a camera in about seven years and am a beginner at photography. I did research on the internet and decided on this camera based on price and ease of use. After going on a two week trip to Alaska and using this camera extensively, i just had to write a review due to my positive experience. The pictures were beautiful and the camera was very easy for a beginner like myself.
I would recommend this camera for anyone who wants to take great pictures and doesn't have extensive photography experience. Thank you for a wonderful product!
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, good battery life, durable
Cons: slightly heavier than a compact camera

Great all around super zoom camera

I had great hopes for this camera and for the most part I wasn't disappointed. I've been Canon user for some number of years now, but I'm a point and shoot type guy, not a pro by any means. This camera is very good, the main reason I got it was for the 20x zoom it offers. I have small kids that are involved with many activities and sometimes you need the extra zoom to capture those great moments - so in the zoom category this camera is just great. The features are awesome as well, this is as configurable as I want to get, pretty much a lot of pro DSLR type setting available here. The only downfall is rather slow continues shot mode at 1.6 fps, so any action shots are a bit out of this camera's reach, you'd need much more expensive DSLR/CMOS based camera for that.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, good battery life, durable

Great Camera

This is a great camera with fantastic features. I chose this one because I can change the shutter speed. My kids all take tae kwon do, and I've missed so many board breaking pictures with slow shutter speeds on cameras! This also takes great bright pictures with the zoom fully extended. I've had so many problems with zoomed photos being too dark to see. As for the main complaint of the lense cap not being attached, I just bought a lens cap leash at a local camera store for $1.99. Now that's not an issue, and it's a simple fix.
Pros: Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance

PowerShot SX10 IS

This camera is great. Quality pictures. I'm satisfied with the performance. One thing I don't like is the movie format.
I bought this one instead of a DSLR because of price, 20x optical zoom and portability. I don't want the hassle of cleaning and bringing those heavy lenses for DSLR while I'm still an amateur in photography.
For now, I'm very much satisfied with SX10. In time, that would probably change and I might get a DSLR.
I'm glad that CHDK supports this camera because now I can save in RAW format and I can do other things not possible on the official Canon firmware.
Pros: easy to use, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, good battery life, durable
Cons: .mov movie format
