FAQ - all negative -> repairs
on October 26, 2008
Posted by: Jake
Just received this camera to upgrade for an S2 and noticed all the 'negative' FAQ...do I have another defective unit like the ZR series had with the CCDs? That would be disappointing as I'm a dyed in the wool Canon fan!
Do NOT like not have a 'polarizer' attachment for the lens since there's no way to keep the lens from getting lost!
Do NOT install the software on a Mac OS X - buggy and troublesome...just use Image Capture, iPhoto or Aperture and for goodness sake stay away from Adobe...they're are easier to use, more updated and Universal Binary applications (Apple need to kill off PhotoShop like Final Cut Pro axed Premiere).
Tethered shooting would have been nice!

I had to return it as it did not take clear crisp photos of wildlife. No sharpness to images, and lots of blur. I was very disappointed in it. But, am very satisified with othercanon cameras that we own.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I just received this camera as my graduation from my parents! So far I Love it! Does anyone know of a good photo editing program that works well with this camera that is either free or reasonable in price?
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Bright LCD, excellent image quality
Cons: Heavy/Bulky

Great Value

Got this camera in anticipation of having our first child... Captures our baby so much better than a smaller point & shoot.
Quality is great (in all mediums -- print & digital).
Only complaint is that the focus is sometimes wonky -- the face recognition doesn't always work well & then focus may be on something in the background -- also focus in video mode in medium light is icky (it will refocus & get blurry during shooting).
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, excellent image quality
Cons: Poor Low-Light Performance, focus isn't always accurate
I would recommend this to a friend!

Cover issues

Only problem we have had after multiple uses is the fact the outer ring to the lens came loose. It is only glued on and after usage it slowly becomes loose as if you were trying to focus a lense manually.
Cons: outer ring loosens

I like the camera i guess, as i am no professional, i got it just so that i could go out and get pictures of the things that i enjoy in life. In well lit conditions i like it a lot, in low lit or dusk conditions when i want a natural picture and not to use the flash when i'm taking pictures of the deer in back yard through glass window, it really has its kinks. other than that i like it.
Pros: easy to use, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable
Cons: Complicated controls/menu, Poor Low-Light Performance
I would recommend this to a friend!
