The last camera I will buy for many years!

I have always been a fan of the canons. I must admit I was a little hesitant about making such a large purchase for a camera but I am so thankful I did. I run a home daycare and am a scrapbooker so pictures pictures pictures are my lifeline. My last canon had been used and abused to say. It had been dropped, tossed around and played with by 2year olds. After 5 years and a hard fall in Disneyland it finally quit on me. I was doing alot of research on what type of camera I was going to get, and I found the SX 10 I was like no I want something I can put in my purse and go and this is too big. Boy was I wrong I have it in my purse and use it constantly once you get past the size and the weight and the strap around your neck like you are a tourist lol it becomes a part of you. I love the way it fits into my hands, I love the use of the viewfinder being digital and so you truly see what you are capturing. I love how you can turn on the Turbo ISO and be taking shots that my friend takes on her SLR. It is worth every penny I spent on it. The picture quality is amazing, the fact that it takes pictures in pretty much pure blackness is amazing and I love the fact that I can still learn new features. I love the kids/animals mode and the fact that I can do the black and white. We have a video camera that has a build in digital camera feature and I was stooped to use it for Halloween and Thanksgiving last year the quality was horrible and it is sad to have to put them in my scrapbook. NOw I'm proud to show off my camera and the features and all the fun gatgets....I love to play and would love to find a class on this camera just to learn the more advance features.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, good battery life, durable
Cons: no date imprint on pictures
I would recommend this to a friend!

Perfect camera if you do not want to spend the money for an SLR and multiple lenses. The SX10is takes great pictures and is very easy to use. Some of my friends with expensive slr cameras are jealous!
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance

Had it just over a month now. Still learning. Don't like that it can't put a date on the pictures.
The lens cap should have a little tether.
Other then that it takes great pictures. It is a little complicated to use, really need to study the manual.
Pros: Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality
Cons: Missing features/settings, Short battery life

I just got my camera a week ago and haven't had much time to mess with it. There are SO many menu options with this thing that I don't think I'll ever be able to do justice to it! I will keep messing with the camera a little at a time, but I'm finding that when I start messing with a button here or there, I really do MESS things up! The settings are so vast and sophisticated that I just can't keep track of all the buttons and all the great options they give the user. When I do figure some things out, I'm going to love this camera even more than I do already. I know I'll be getting some of my best pictures ever with the Canon PowerShot SX10 IS.
Pros: Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable, durable, great camera for the price
Cons: Complicated controls/menu

The picture quality is amazing. The colors are extremely vivid and accurate. The zoom is ultra fast and ultra powerful. Great design, excellent grip. Even though I'm not using a high speed SD card, I already notice that it's very fast in between shots. The Vary-Angle LCD is a great plus eventhough I use the viewfinder most of the time. A friend dropped his at waist height and nothing broke.
Pros: Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, durable, it's a canon!
Cons: Heavy/Bulky
I would recommend this to a friend!

Swivel LCD! bit too big, Fringes, No HD or Lipo.

Was very excited about this camera, Love the swivel LCD screen. sharp detailed images(excellent Croppability)
When buying a camera i think It is more important to focus on the negetives than the positives. so here is a small list please correct them on the next version Canon!
1) This camera is a bit too big to for a compact. If it had interchangable lens, the size would have be justifiable.
2) Some minor fringing and distorsion on the images caused by the high zooming lense.
3) In auto mode slightly dark and dull images: Images lacking that key "camera brilliance"= better image than what your naked eyes saw. Could be adjusted in manual mode.
4) No Hd video or video compression, Canon has the best SD video quality out of all manufactures, but HD would have been more preferable. Some video compression would increase capacity.
5) No rechargable lithium ion batteries, uses AAs.
These are just the negetives, the positives of this camera are endless.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, Good Low-Light Performance, durable
Cons: Poor image quality, Heavy/Bulky, Short battery life

Only For The Pros

I purchased this camera because I wanted to take high quality pictures while on vacation and it got very good reviews. To be fair let me first say that I found this camera to be of the highest quality and it came loaded with all kinds of desireable features. The main problem I experienced with this camera is that It just was too complex and too complicated to use. Prior to using the camera I read the owners manual from cover to cover and then I read it again this time with the camera in hand. There were so many buttons, dials and settings that I found myself overwelmed right from the start with all of the technical jargon and highly detailed instructions. I soon became frustrated with my lack of ability to understand how to utilize any of the many functions available so I simply set it to auto and used it that way for my vacation. Since then I read the manual again and I still don't understand it, nor can I remember what all the numerous buttons and dials do. There is no point to owning a camera that is so complex that you can't use it. The bottom line is that this is a very good camera for very experienced, very savvy camera enthusiasts who can digest all of the complexities involved. It is not for beginners or amateurs like myself who should just stick to the point and shoot models.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable
Cons: Poor Low-Light Performance, Difficult to use, Complicated controls/menu, owners manual hard to understand
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
