Great camera

I have just purchased the camera for an up coming ski trip. It is to replace a video camera and still camera. The video quality is excellant and the still shots are great. The low light shots are fantastic. I haven't had to use the flash indoors at all. Adjusting the ISO, shutter speed, and aperture I have been able to get better low light shots than when using the flash.
I have found that a 52 mm filter will fit the camera lens.
I have found the camera does exactly what it is supposed to do, take great photos. It is the closest thing you can get to an SLR. However, it is not an SLR. If you want an SLR buy an SLR.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable
I would recommend this to a friend!

This is not a bad camera, but the thing I hate most of this camera is "NO LENS THREAD FOR FILTERS".
Pros: easy to use, Bright LCD, reasonable pix quality
Cons: Heavy/Bulky, no lens thread for filters

bought camera just b4 trip to costa rica. Learned to have better zoom from previous Alaska trip. manual was intimadating. Sat down and read and practiced. That was well worth the time. I got excellent shots , and soon learned I could shoot almost anything, and still salvage a bad shot.
Lots of fun. Software is nothing like competition. needs some work. Wish it was better.
Thanks canon!, good job.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, durable
Cons: read the manual!

Needs a better flash.

I love cannon cameras, this is my 3rd camera from this company. I chose this camera over slr's bc the optical zoom is amazing! It is very clear, the recycle time is fast, has loads of settings. My only complaint is the flash. I was standing outside a museum to take some really important pictures at night. I had my flash raised, when I looked at the pictures when I got home. They did not come out. The flash did not reach clear enough in front of me to see the flags I was taking pictures of (that were right in front of me). So, I am looking into spending another 300+ on getting an external flash. I will be calling Cannon tomorrow to make sure it is not something I am doing wrong, instead of the camera. I took AMAZING pic's of the moon, so lets hope it was just me lol I have taken over 350+pics and my batteries are still good!
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable
Cons: Poor Low-Light Performance

Just purchased this camera this week, bought a competitors camera 2 months ago and was totally disap ointed.I have to agree about it beeing a littie heavy and thatthere in no way to attach a filter. Since I cant mention names,I can only tell yuo to search the internet I found a great adaptor desighned for the SX10is that takes 58mm filters.
Since I am now able to use UV filters etc. am loving this camera even more.Best investment I ever made. Going to Alaska next month for 2 weeks, and this camera will get a real good workout.
Pros: Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, durable
Cons: Complicated controls/menu, Heavy/Bulky

My husband surprised me with the PowerShot SX10IS for my birthday in June. It has so many features that I'm still learning them! The pictures are beautiful, clear, crisp and colorful. I can take photos at sunset and at nighttime with stunning results. I may never need another camera again!
Pros: Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, good battery life, fun to learn how to use!, takes movies as well as still life, admired by my friends!
Cons: Complicated controls/menu

From beginer to pro in a few easy steps

I am a photographer for an Autism Awareness Group and Muzic site. When I started wanted to explore different picture taking styles. With this camera I have so many options I didn’t have with my previous model. The Auto setting is good for quick shots or when difficult to gauge light. I use the manual settings and get the best shots ever. With the vari angle view finder I can get that awesome staging (up high or down low ) that is to difficult to with a fixed view. The adjustable flash is the icing on the cake giving some of my pix that luster and depth of color.
There is so much more I could go on telling stories about my photo shoots.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, good battery life, durable
Cons: Missing features/settings

This is a wonderful substitute for DSLR -- no need to change lenses to get your picture. The image quality is terrific and the camera is easy to learn to use. The AA batteries are also a great convenience -- you'll never be without a charge.
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: if only it had a larger sensor....
