Great Camera

This is a great camera for a great price. The ability to take wide angle shots, record two hours of audio with very good quality, and the fantastic telephoto range make this almost the perfect camera. The addition of a hot shoe is also a fine addition to this line of cameras. I have been using the S 3 IS for a couple of years and really liked that as well. Canon has now outdone itself. I would never bother with a DSLR after using this camera. The functions that you really need are very easy to access on this camera.

I have the camera for a few weeks. I thrilled with the camera's performance. I is capable of taking great pictures right of the box in the Auto setting. Then after reading the manual and practicing with the other functions I have been able to learn how to take great pictures using the other menu features. I would highly recomend this camera to anyone it may not have all the features a professional would like but I have been more than happy.
Pros: easy to use, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality
Cons: Complicated controls/menu, Heavy/Bulky, Short battery life
I would recommend this to a friend!

Just shy of perfect

I am really enjoying this camera. And with the wi-fi memory card for picture upload, it's awesome. I only have two gripes....not capable of using filters and no remote shutter option or capability. Canon, please update the firmware to support remote shutter release via a mini-usb plug or IR sensor in the USB plug. (if it's even possible). No matter what I do love this camera, just need some time to get out and really put it to work.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable
Cons: Missing features/settings
I would recommend this to a friend!

This is my third Canon Camera. I strayed and bought a lower priced competitor only to hate hate hate it. Did my homework read other reviews and decided on the SX10IS. This was the perfect choice for me. Certainly an upgrade. Many cool features and with some reading of the manual I am able to take some pretty incredible low light shots as well as closeups of nature. One comment on low level shots camera apparently takes a long time to process reading "busy" for quite a few seconds then picture appears in the review mode is this normal? I did format the disk for low light shots.. anyone? Otherwise I am the envy of my intro to photography class. Film vs Digital is the ultimate question we all ponder. But I am sold on my Digital Canon SX10IS.
Pros: easy to use, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, good battery life, 20x zoom lens, swivel lcd screen
Cons: Missing features/settings, no romote shutter, no lens cap attachment
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great Camera

I have found this camera to be an excellent choice and it has met all my requirements to date. It takes excellent pictures and is relatively easy to use. I find it to be on the heavy side from what I wanted. The most inconvenient part is not having a rechargeable battery pack, that can be charged in or out of the camera. I have purchased rechareable batteries, which are a reasonable substitute. On/off switches could better positioned and easier to use?
