The A-Series used to have my favorite shooting modes and for some reason someone decided to remove them. I used to be able to find Av, Tv, M right on the dial on many of the A-Series, but the last time I remember seeing those functions were on the A650IS.
I don't know know who is running the show now, but it's a big let down to not have those functions in a compact camera.
Some of the A series ran on four AA batteries and I found they shoot more photos and have shorter flash recycle times than the newer breed of party toys.
Pros: excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu
Cons: Missing features/settings, Short battery life
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

best camera ever

This camera does a great job. It takes great pictures and great video indoors and out. The large LCD and easy to use functions make this a great camera. I have taken some of my best pictures with this camera, with two young children I take about 7,000 pictures a year and rarely I need to delete unwanted pictures. Its so easy to use that I take pictures of the kids every two or three days.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable

Love this camera! Worth every penny.
Pictures are amazing quality.
Has awesome of features!
My only gripe is, no rechargeable battery :(

Why do I love this camera? Because it is super easy to use and takes amazing pictures. I'm no expert - but at the end of the day, I have high quality photos of my kids and family. Also, the more I mess with the features, the more cool things I find. For example, I discovered the foliage setting which really makes the colors pop in all my photos. With lithium batteries and a 4 gb card, you can shoot hundreds and hundreds of pictures. I actually dropped and killed my first one (not the camera's fault!), and after researching, I'm buying this camera again.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

It is OK Camera

It is easy to use camera and it has photos and videos. The only problem is the 1 GB card is too little for the camera. After a few video the card is quickly full. And if you put in a 4GB or 8GB card, it does not work. Only 1GB. You have to buy dozens of 1GB cards. See if the next one can hold a bigger memory card.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Bright LCD
Cons: Poor Low-Light Performance

No AV, or Tv settings! ! !

After much deciding, I chose the 2000 as a gift for myself as a birthday gift.
I have shot loads with 3 different versions of the AI720 model that family and friends have; ABSOLUTLEY LOVE IT!!! So I got the 2000 and kinda of assumed that ALL Manual controls would "Of Course" be there. WRONG!
So now I recieved a great gift/present, but beings how this was supposed to be my pocket camera, for when my MKIII, or MKII are not handy-- Imagine my HUGE DISAPOINTMENT when realizing that the majority of the manual controls that I get the most use out of, are NOT PRESENT! on my new- killer camera.

It IS an amazing camera, but for me, not having the shutter and apeture controls is a deal breaker. I just don't know what/how to proceed from here.
There is the addition of an "Easier" button, easier than the Auto-green box, which for great grand mom, might be good, but WHY IN THE WORLD? can't the addition of "easier" controls be added-- without stealing away such invaluable controls is WAAAY beyond me.

Great little camera

I'm an amateur user, but it seems to be a keeper. I've only had it a few days. Too bad it doesn't have a higher optical zoom, though. The video and still pics are good quality.
