Great camera for smaller hands

I can no longer hold the large pro cameras, plus I shake a little now. This camera gives me great shots and has all the adjustments to take pro quality pictures. Have had it for 3 years now and I know I made the right choice for me. I even joined a photography club to allow me to use it more. This camera also has a seperate macro lens you can buy as an accessory, however I have been able to take great flower shots with it as is! I love this little beauty.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable, durable
Cons: Short battery life

Good camera

Forced to buy another Canon when my A570 went for a swim. Picture quality is very good, though red eye is very common. The one thing that annoys me the most is the lag time between taking pictures especially when there's a flash involved. I've tried rechargeable and disposable batteries and even specific "camera" batteries with no change. I expected either the same or better 'speed' in taking pictures with less to no delay when compared to the A570, but this is not so and it just makes me miss my old camera even more as well as half heartedly looking at the newer models as they come out.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable
Cons: delay in sucsessive pics.

Great Point and Shoot
on December 26, 2008

The A2000 is a great Point and Shoot camera. Picture quality rivals 40D with L Glass for snapshot photography. Colors are bright and vibrant and focus is a snap with Canon's push to focus, push more to take system as on the EOS 3, EOS 40D SLRs that I use for serious work. I also tried the A1000 which is also very good but the A2000 has a larger LCD and a slightly bigger lens with more zoom (6X vice 4X). Note: Try not to zoom all the way to 6X, the lower the zoom the better the picture (and turn OFF the Digital Zoom as it is a quality killer). Yes, the A2000 does Not have a viewfinder like the A1000, but you do not use a viewfinder for this type of photography (if you want a viewfinder, get an SLR). As for the negative comments on the non-rechargeable batteries, AA rechargeable batteries are available, but why use them in a Point and Shoot, they go dead after a while, do you really want to tell the Kids "Hold that Pose, I'll be back in 30 minutes when the batteries are charged"? Just keep extra AA batteries in the case with the camera and you will always be ready for that special shot.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, durable

This PowerShot A-2000, is my third digital From Canon. I know very little about photography technique. I find it interesting how using the PowerShot line Canon makes. Can be easy to learn with since the screen has so many prompts telling you what your settings are it helps me learn what to do for the next shot. The complimentary software for my PC. Has compelled many people to ask me. What system did you use ? When I tell them it came with the Camera they seem surprised. Makes me think it must be a real plus using this software.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable, very easy to keep on my belt. i carry it all times

Best Yet

I haven't had this camera long but I can already say I LOVE IT! It will do everything I want to do at this time and more...will take me a while to learn how to use all features as I am very amateur. I love the results I am getting so far, very pleased with my purchase, takes great pictures, love the playback screen. Haven't advanced from beginner's mode yet but it takes great pictures just with that mode! Love it, love it, love it! And very nice price for what I got.
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

As a first time Digital cam user, A+. Easy to use. Easy to understand. And the pic quality matched with correct mem card is outstanding. Capturing videos is a huge plus.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable

Not a good "A" series followup
on December 30, 2008

Good: Photos are good (except as noted below.) Fits in large pocket unlike A590 and A570. Easy to use.
Bad: No manual exposure controls for aperture or shutter speed found on earlier "A" models. Incredibly, the lens shadows the flash at wide angle setting, leaving a dark arc on bottom right of photo.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu
Cons: Missing features/settings
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
