It was feast and easy setup and easy wireless connection, I can view my computer from living room and connect to printer effortlessly.

Good and Bad

This was my first Brother Printer. I've always used HP with my HP computer. But my son bought this one for me. It seems to be of thinner plastic - not sturdy. It does seem to work ok - have had it over 6 mo and have not had any problems with it. However, I hate the program for the computer that comes with it. It is much more difficult to find what I need - and seems to need more levels to get things done. I liked HP programs MUCH better. I would not buy it again because of the reasons listed here.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Front Control Panel

Complex and not user friendly - I put a piece of paper in the auto feed and automatically it wants to fax it somewhere - I just watn to scan or copy. When trying to clear the function screen it will not clear nor will it reset. I use my brother with two different Macs and I have to download some special drivers to do this function. I use HP printers in my office with no difficulty, why must I go through these additional downloads with drivers that are difficult to locate. Not necessary with the HP

Worst purchase ever

Cartridges are expensive and don't last. Even if using only black, color cartridges go empty and have to replaced or it won't print at all.
Never have been able to get the wireless scan or fax functions working. Extent of Tech help was to send the drivers which didn't fix the problem

Great machine for the price

The initial cartridges run out rather quickly but I purchased the higher capacity ink for replacements. This machine is really good for the price. It does everything I need easily. The only thing I would change in the design is the printed pages coming out at the bottom front. They fall on the table / floor with nothing to catch them. I have used all functions and am very pleased with this purchase.

Terrible Choice

I ended up purchasing 3 of this exact model and returned each and every one for the same reason....printing way too light with original Brother ink cartridges. I called Brother, to no avail. My previous Brother All in ones were awesome, except they don't work too well on the cloud.
Stay away from the MFC-J475DW, unless you are eager to purchase a useless and oversize paperweight.
