Overall a good product. Little bit slow and noisy. I like to scan but changed the ink cartridge and lost my scanning. Not sure how to email to print. Not one of the easiest to use unless just printing.

software stays in place

I find the download to the printer to be slower than my HP, but I am willing to put up with it as long as my scanning tools and other software remain in place and do not to be re-loaded every couple months. Printing quality is fine, but I do not typically print photos.
I still have my HP plugged in for backup, but soon I suspect I will be 100% on the Brother. I like it as a smaller unit and really enjoy the desk top control icon for scanning.

Good printer, poor manual

Printer seems to be excellent so far. However it's only been a week so can't comment on durability or ink cartridge life. Setting it up for wireless is easy once you understand what you need to do and that you NEED to download the drivers from the website manually. The supplied Disk is useless. The paper rinstructions provide hints but you can not just follow them . Like a puzzle. But after an hour I liked the printer. Anyone on our home network can print or scan wirelessly and effortlessly. The print quality is excellent . So I can recommend it .

As is typical with Brother MFC units, the models with the two year warranty (like this one) are a better quality than the cheapest models (which only have one year warranty). Can use "compatible" ink cartridges but stay away from the "G&G" brand sold by the big-box stores as they will surely clog the unit.
One star deduction for not having a bypass tray for thick paper stock that won't feed through the normal "flip & feed" underside tray. You have to go with one of the larger and more costly Brother MFC units for that feature. (I have a J6710 for that.)

This is a good reliable printer it hasn't let me down yet. Paper jams are easy to fix. I had a different printer from a different company that would have paper jams constantly. The last one I wasn't able to repair so I decided I wanted to go with a Brother product. I have had paper jams with this printer mostly because of paper product. However, not to many and it is easy to fix. I love this printer best printer I have ever bought.

This is the second Brother printer that I have bought. I loved the first one and wore it out. This one is barely a printer. Wireless / Cat 5 / USB direct to the CPU, none seem to get a connection except to print when the printer does not show the offline error. That error seems to come and go and I can't figure out the reason. Nuance Paperport can list the printer but will not use the scan function. This machine appears to be a waste of money.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
