Gloss so stunning you can see yourself in it, and a flat matte black which no other printer can even hope to touch (except maybe the R2400, which is $200 more).
I work in retail and I've seen the preformace of other brands, and other Epson printers, side by side.
Only downside I find is that I have to clean the nozzles often. I've gotten into the habbit of printing a 4x6 proof before I bother with the oversized paper to make sure my nozzles are clean (otherwise banding occurs, expensive at 13x19 to have to redo).
But that's a small price to pay for an ink jet machine with a level of quality that not even a laser machine can touch.

Big clogging problem

We've had major problems with the heads clogging on this printer. We use it several times a week and it is never left on when not in use. A big disappointment coming from the 2200.

R1900 (dumped a 925)

I dumped an Epson 925 which was a great printer, but clogged quickly, for an R1900. The Best decision I made. From the start, the pictures were gorgeous and I am a rank amateur. I was put off at first at the separate tanks, but quickly saw the logic of only replacing the needed color. Having two types of black and the Gloss Optimizer is a convenience. I love this printer!

Best Printer Ever

This printer is incredible. I am able to print copies of my watercolor prints on art paper & they are indistinguishable from the original. I have won awards for photos entered in our county fair that were printed on this printer. The printer is much faster than previous printers & it is easy to adjust the settings to save ink & increase printing speed. My fellow artist friends have been very impressed with the work that came off this printer. The customer service is always great and supplies arrive quickly when ordered on line.

Just what I wanted

This printer has been hooked up for a couple of weeks and I haven't been disappointed yet. The colors are great and the speed at which it prints is outstanding. I am waiting to see just how well the ink holds out. Only time will tell at this point. If you want larger prints this is it...... My only "con" is I am unable to find a good selection of the larger papers locally. I have had to order them in the larger sizes.

Ups and Downs

Cost was great. Quality of photo prints is phenomenal. Unit is compact and easy to set up and use.
I was initially happy with the cost of ink cartridges, but found the printer goes through ink very fast..still a great value.
Only other drawback is when printing at the lowest quality setting to save on ink, the quality is very bad. Almost not worth even printing at that resolution.

Terrific printer

I used my Photo R800 for the last three years both for smaller fotos and as an all-purpose printer. I never dreamt that an upgrade to the R1900 would produce such startlingly better prints. Both in detail and accurate reproduction of what's on the screen it is quite amazing. I am very impressed. It does suck up ink at a prodigious rate, but that is to be expected. I had hoped to be able to use this--like the R800--to do the occasional document, but that's a non-starter. I've resurrected the R800 and keep it under the desk for routine operations with the R1900 up top in the place of honor.

Epson R1900 Printer

I am not impressed with this printer. The R1800, to me, is superior to the R1900. I printed 17 8x10 glossies and the gloss optimizer is almost empty. I will be broke if I keep this printer. With the R1800, the gloss optimizer lasted a long time. Also, I don't like the color as well. Now, I have to decide what printer to choose. The R2880 is out there, but everyone complains about the switching of the black inks. You didn't have to do that with the R1800 or the R1900. So, why is that an issue with the R2880?
