When used with EPSON ink this printer is capable of producing amazing photo prints. I am very happy with my purchase of this printer and would recommend it for anyone wanting the ability to print photos at pro quality.

Always replacing the ink

Though this printer does a good job, it seems the ink runs out after every two prints. First the magenta, which you replace, and then before you can print another, it says your cyan ran out. I've maybe used the printer 4 times and now I just give up. If I could do it over, I would have just kept my old Stylus 1280. Not recommended.

I have had this printer for several years and it always prints flawlessly in color or B&W. The cartridges are small however that is not a bad thin altogether if you print as a hobbyist, my walls are full so I use it less frequently now.

Threw R1900 in Dumpster

Never used glossy paper but always ran out of gloss optimizer, no user level service documentation available, error messages popped up that required having expensive "certified" Epson service, finally stopped working after Apple Epson Printer Software update 2.14 so I threw it in dumpster.

Ongoing ink issues

The ink is very expensive and not available at any local store. I seem to have a lot of clogging issues and need to clean the print heads often. I do not use the printer often enough and I think this is part of the problem even though when I first bought it I was uses it quite a bit. The reason I don't use it often enough is that the cartridges need to be replaced almost every time I go to use it - once a month or so. I even had it on a timer so it would cycle on and off to keep everything fresh. The print color is great that is why it got 3 stars instead of 2.

The quality of the printing is great. I especially like the ability to do large format prints. I have sold many prints of my artwork. The color is very accurate and the detail is perfect. Now, the bad news...I find the printer to be tempermental. It won't accept non Epson paper which is a problem because I print cards and Epson does not have greeting card style paper. I have to insert the paper into the back "roll" access and it often does not get the picture centered on the paper. This causes me time and frustration.

Fabulous pictures on color prints. It's performance is limited to color prints. It too slow on drafts and standard letter printing.
