I am fairly happy with the R1900, and I have to admit I have bought and installed a continuous ink system, voiding my warranty, but giving me great quality ink (Cave paint) so I don't have to pay the ridiculous prices for the Epson cartridges. However, I get banding on some dark areas of my photo prints. I don't think it is the ink system, so that is something I have to live with on the R1900.

I have used the R1900 for some time now printing on almost all available Epson paper from 4x6 to 13x19. The quality of the prints is consistently high and the printer performs flawlessly. The printer is also easy to install with the bundled software and very user friendly. Highly recommended!

Print quality is excellent

This printer prints excellent quality prints. I think the print speed is pretty fast also. At lest it is twice as fast as my old Epson 960. I think the print quality is as good as any photo lab prints. The ink does run out fast. I had to have my printer replaced do to clogged print heads. My thinking is it may have to do with not printing enough therefor the ink dries out. My 960 I left in storage for two years with the ink still in the printer. And when I started using it again it worked. I did have to clean the print head every once in a while. The 960 used dye based ink and the r1900 uses Pigment based ink. Maybe this is the reason. Overall I am happy with the printer but Epson has to figure out this head clogging problem. I would give it a high rating if they could fix the head clogging problem.

R1900

I have been using the R1900 for several months. I am extremely pleased with the performance. The color rendition and depth of the photographs which I have printed are excellent. I would prefer to have some additional options for paper size. Otherwise, the software is very convenient. I note that when a new ink tank in inserted, the printer appears to prime all the tanks, wasting a small amount of ink in the tanks which were not replaced.

I bought this R1900 printer a couple of yeas ago and used it with my mini Mac. Recently I got a new iMac with the Lion operating system, and can't get it to work the same as before. First I tried loading the program from the CD I had, and it would work on basic glossy paper. It won't accept the Fine Art paper settings - so I don't think it's printing the best. I've tried other options, like downloading Os 6 and letting apple look for software. After I re-registered it did download a program, but it's not right yet? Is there a Mac 7 (lion program for the R1900 that I can download?

Epson R1900 Review
on December 9, 2008

I previously had been using Epson Stylus Photo 1280 printer and thought it was about time to upgrade to the new Epson photo R1900 printer. To say that I was taken aback by the performance and print results of this new printer, would be an understatement.
Immediately upon opening the box I found the instructions which made the setup very easy. In no time at all, I was printing pictures. I need the capability of being able to print 13 inch wide photos and since I’m printing pictures of clothing, I like the fact that the R1900 uses pigment-based Ultra Chrome Hi-Gloss ink, which gives much better color definition of my products. The picture quality that it produces with the smooth gloss finish is nothing less than extraordinary.
Occasionally, I give a CD of my products to a customer and really like the fact that I now can print on the CD, making it much more professional looking.
I would highly recommend the Epson R1900 for anyone wanting a printer that can produce outstanding vivid prints up to 13 inches wide. I would also recommend using Epson Ink and Premium Photo Glossy paper for continued outstanding prints.

Great Christmas Present

For the past several years I had the Epson R1800 printer as I scrapbook in the 12x12 size. When I saw the new R1900 I began bugging my husband about it. Though I was happy with the 1800 I am a perfectionist and I wanted the perfect pictures of my grandchildren. Surprise! My husband bought me the R1900 for Christmas and though I haven't had a chance to print a lot of pictures yet the few that I did do are Picture Perfect. He was even nice enough to let me open it up before Christmas. The skin tones are exactly like my granddaughters skin tone. I am so pleased. I did not have any paper feeding problems as stated by some in other reviews. I am so pleased. I can hardly wait to use it to print all my christmas pictures.

R1900 A Great Printer
on January 26, 2009

Over the last week I¹ve been giving my EPSON Stylus Photo R1900 a workout. I've needed to produce large prints for photo competitions as well as 4x6 prints for family and friends. This printer has handled both very well. I am printing from Photoshop CS3, with Adobe RGB color space, and ICC paper profiles. The User¹s Guide made it easy to set up the color management. Using the EPSON Ultra Premium Photo Glossy Paper I am getting great color prints with intense saturated reds and yellows as well as great B&W prints with subtle variations. Prints match very closely with my screen display. I'm extremely pleased with the quality of the prints I¹m getting. I¹m looking forward to getting some roll paper and printing some panoramas as the R1900 will print up to 13x44.
