Great portable unit so far

For all those negative reviews about these units not cooling well, all I can say is, yeah if you are in a uninsulated garage with bare wall studs including the roof beams, ur dreaming wanting this to cool the room. If you want the room meat locker cold, dreaming again. But it will for sure cool a insulated room the square feet it's made for, you'll be fine. If you are in a heat soaked insulated shed, it will work but it will need to run 8 hours to catch up and keep up. It's all dependent on insulation factors and the exhaust hose being as short as possible without the back vents of ac unit being to close to a wall. Also for max cool and max system efficiency, the fan speed should be on high speed-#12 page 10 of user manual. Also make sure the automatic mode is turned off-#1, page 10 of user manual, to get max compressor run time verses it cycling off and on even before temp setting is reached on #18, page 10 of user manual. I also suggest the temp setting be set at its lowest setting at first until the room is cooled down to your liking. Only dislike we have is the power cord end, the window we are using is for ease of use and it's in the kitchen with the unit sitting on a short heavy steel cabinet with a small baking pan under the wheels so the unit can't roll. The only way to plug the cord in is at the top outlet with that big conglomerate built into the cord which blocks the other plug in spot which we needed to use. So I used a heavy duty 15 amp spacer to clear the counter top back splash so we could move it to the lower receptacle. How about moving that LCDI circuit breaker cord outlet end away from the cord end by 6 inches and just have a regular 3 prong cord end to actually plug in to wall outlet

Ideal unit for recurring heat waves
on October 9, 2015

We bought this unit anticipating the late summer/early fall heat waves that annually hit Southern California. We have a newborn, so it was important that we have a portable AC that was functional. I'm happy to report that it has been effective for keeping our apartment comfortable. In the larger living room, it really helps to "take the edge off" the heat and humidity, and when we move it into the smaller bedroom, it fully cools things off. The unit is easy to move from one room to another; it's narrow and has wheels so you don't have to lift it. The only nuisance is moving the window panel, but that isn't a big deal. We would definitely recommend this to a friend.

Nice unit, but compressor shuts off periodically

Verified Purchase:Yes
I just received this unit today. It came well protected in double box and shipped free and fast via Fedex. Very easy to set up. Only complaint I have is that the compressor does not stay on long enough to reach the desired temperature of 75 degrees F. The compressor turns off and the temperature in my small room rises to over 80 over the course of about 6 minutes as the unit only produces fan ventilation but not compressor cooling. After about 6 minutes, the compressor starts up again and begins to cool the room. Why does the compressor shut off by itself after about 20 minutes of operation in Auto mode? Is the unit supposed to do this? Or is my unit defective? Thanks.

It's 93 outside and 68 inside!

This is perfect. The weight was okay for me to carry it up to my loft where it is placed. My home is small but with some elevated ceilings and some lower. I have 2 small window air conditioners on the first floor, but needed something upstairs. This was easy to install, and it came at the perfect time. We have had a much warmer than normal summer with several high 80's and low 90's days. I turn the 3 air conditioners on around noon, and I'm comfortable all day. This is perfect. The weight is fair for a portable a/c; I'm a 56 y/o female with some health issues and a horrid back, but I was able to make it to the loft w/ some prayers.... You won't regret this purchase.

The only con I have at this time is that it does take up a good bit of space with the hose that goes to the window.

Keeping your Cool

What stood out most about this model from it's competitors was the 11+ EER, one of the best ratings out there. Being it that most 8-12K BTU units, priced in around $400, You can at least feel safe that you will make your money back in your electric bills. The model definitely kept my tiny room cold on most days, but Even having more BTU than I needed, it was mediocre when the 90 degree weather came out. I think that's just the nature of any portable AC, so I still give bonus points to it's cold factor. Now, installation, compactness, portability, remote control were awesome features, but my cons on the unit are the noise and LED lights. It makes about the same noise level as your average window unit, but I think this is a trade secret with portable units that they never really get 'quiet' if your a light sleeper. However, after a while, the rhythm like any AC becomes white noise. So, the only real con of this unit were those bright LED options. You can easily place a color sheet of paper over it to cover, but a 'dim' setting would have been ideal if your using for a bedroom. Overall, great purchase. Pros way out weigh the cons. Well worth my $400.

Love the white color so the air conditioner blends in with the decor.
