The absolute worst appliance experience ever.

I have had this frig replaced three times and none of them worked to cool my food. Lost tons of food and lots of aggravation. This is a lemon model. Stay away from GE period; they don't call you back and they don't stand by their products.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Our model has good flexibility in storage and adjustability. Temperature controls seem to have little effect. We used a new thermometer to try making incremental adjustments over time with no effect on refrigerator compartment. Unit is pretty noisy compared to previous frig. Supposed to be "energy star" qualified, but sure seems to run alot.

Refrigerator is nice

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought this refrigerator a couple weeks ago to replace a 25 year old frig that was rusting terribly. The new GE frig seems to work fine, although I miss not having a light in the freezer section. Without a light it is sometimes difficult to see what is in there. The two crisper compartments are also difficult to use since they do not slide in and out easily, and I miss not having seperate compartments for butter and eggs.
On the plus side, the new frig does keep the contents cold and seems efficient. We'll see when we get the first electric bill!

Great Price/Value Buy. Has seperate Freezer/Fridge Controls

This model steps above others in its price class by offering seperate temperature controls for freezer and refrigerator zones. Most competing brands in this price class have only a single control shared by the freezer and refridgerator. Seperate controls let you get the temperatures correct. The quality only gets a 4 of 5 because the unit has a sturdy, but plastic handle. Metal or Rubberized is more durable I think. Apperance is fine, but a 4 of 5, since it is not fancy Profile model. It is your standard textured, painted. Shelves are nice, in door milk, etc. I got the unit without ice maker, but it is available as an option. The only "missing" feature is there no light in the freezer. That has been deleted on most models in this class to improve the energy efficiency (no 100 watt bulb burning) on the freezer door opening. The refrigerator has standard lighting. I believe the freezer light has been removed to improve the energy rating (and it probably helped cost a tad as well). In my research, all units, from all makers, lacked a freezer light, except one. And that one unit with a freezer light has only a single temperature control. I prefer better temperatures to the freezer light. To get both features, you need to move up in model class to the top-of-the-line models that are 30%-100% more expensive depending on the deal you get. With this unit and all others, my one wish would be that all makers including GE would switch to LED lighting. LED's use less power, generate less heat, would never need a new bulb ever- and they could get their EPA power rating and let us all have a freezer light as well.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had a side by side, my grandmother gave me but it finally stopped working. Didn't really like the tall narrow storage anyway. A friend gave me the next one, it was one step up a dorm size, not big enough, it froze my lettuce, but it was free. I saw this G.E. on the internet and had to buy it!!! I haven't regretted it for one moment!! When I go into my kitchen, I have smile and look at it (inside and out). Love all the features and especially the size. If by chance I need another, it would be another GE ENERGY STAR!!
I would recommend this to a friend!

A great refrigerator, but....

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Operates well but makes more than normal noise which is acceptable considering energy savings. Poorly designed thermostat knobs which are moved when inserting/removing large bottles on top shelf. GE should consider spending a few more bucks and install a light in the freezer compartment.
