Just received a new Artisan 800 today. I unpacked it and started to set up and perform the initial configuration on the printer. Soon after the setup process, I installed the ink and I received an error message. I called Epson tech support and they were very helpful but the printer was DOA. Epson will ship out a new printer to me and I should receive it 3 t o 5 days. :-(.
I do not have warm an fuzzies yet...

I regret having purchased this printer. Customer support has been good, but I have no opportunity for a return for credit (over 30 days) although I have had problems beginning within 30 days of purchase. It was replaced once with another 800. The second replacement was an 810. Neither funtion properly when printing CD's,
I wanted to replace my RX680 with wireless. The 680 is much better.

one word ,CHEAP.I cant beleive how flimsey the trays are,all the trays and doors are so cheap ,and it is somewhat noisey.it dose print pretty fast, good color, but it dosent seem like a printer that would hold up to the wear and tear of everyday use.wish they could make it a little more solid!I went back to my old RX 700 at least I wont worry about the trays falling off.

Overall Great but some Annoying "features"

All in all I'm really impressed with the Artisan 800. Photo prints are really high quality and everything is very fast. The wireless setup was simple and it never falls off the network. Scanning, copying and faxing are all a breeze. And, you don't have to be plugged in to the printer to scan. One really annoying feature though: when you are out of any color ink it won't let you do anything. You could have a full tank of black and only want to print a text document but, no dice. Also, when you are out of ink there is a nag screen that pops up on your computer every time you connect to the network. It "kindly alerts you" that it's out of ink and is very willing to direct you to Epson.com to buy more.
Pros: Easy Setup, Fast, Accurate
Cons: Ink is $$, Won't print anything if any one of the 6 inks are out, nag screens

this printer is amazing! it was easy to setup and everything appears to be working flawlessly... over the wireless network, no usb cables! photographic prints look fantastic, as do scanned images. the backlit lcd touchscreen is a nice 'touch', intuitive and useful.
epson's printer drivers/software are the best too, and don't suck up a lot of system resources (unlike HP's buggy drivers + bloatware).
very nicely done Epson, i am thoroughly impressed with my purchase (so far)

REALLY uses ink, and expensive ink at that. Beautiful print out if you don't mind the odd brown greasy looking stripe and you still have a lot of money for the most expensive paper and that ink. The required photo paper is more expensive than any I found on the shelves. Also a lot of noise and shuffling with the paper tray which hold almost nothing. The paper pick-up sometimes doesn't or it picks up 2 at a time. I never did figure that out. My least favorite printer ever and I have worn out several.

I thought that I had purchased the perfect all in one device. It also included both wireless and wired networking. Once I had this printer all integrated and ready to go, I discovered that the SCAN function does not work via the network. You must connect the device to another computer via USB. Now I have to wait in a long return line at Best Buy to get rid of this item. What a disappointment.

Help! Black lines on my pictures
on February 27, 2009

Okay, so I purchased the Epson 800 about two weeks ago. At first I was very impressed! I was putting in my memory card and the pictures were great---But when I try to print from computer to print there is a black line that runs across the photograph at every inch! Can anyone help me with this? I took the first printer back thinking it was only that printer. Now here I am with the second printer and still having printing problems. Please tell me I'm not the only one. I know it is probably something that can be fixed, but just dont know what to do. Take it back or deal with it!
