Excellent Printer

I really do not understand the negative rants about the Artisan 800, unless these users have never owned an Epson printer nor understand how to use them. I have been with Epson for almost 20 years. I needed to replace an archaic fax machine and needed to have a backup photo printer. I already have the R1800 photo printer which is a very professional wide carriage printer. I found the Artisan 800 very easy to set up. The paper tray (that is regarded as flimsy) is strong and functional and when I put 4x6 inch paper in the top tray, there is never a problem pulling extra pages or a piece of the 4x6 paper while printing. The photo prints are excellent (backed up by comments from people in my office). The scan quality is great, copy works very fast and the fax is fully functional. My wife utilizes the WiFi print capability with her netbook. People who use Epson printers need to understand the print utility pop-up and set it for the proper paper and quality of print desired. I recommend users take the time to set it up correctly and you will love it.

This printer looks good & Sounds too! Too good to be true, but it is. From the day I got it home till the day I returned it. It was a nightmare. I printed with it the colors where all wrong. I never got it to print me a photo right. I wasted more photo paper than it was worth. printing CD/DVD Discs the colors where off as well. Then it started giving me error messages all the time. the last was to call Epson Support "This unit has just Died"

I've had my Artisan 800 over a week now, and I could hardly be more delighted with the purchase. Installation was flawless with all functions performing as they should, and I tried them all. The only hitch occurred when, in attempting to send a fax, I plugged the connector into the wrong jack on the back of the machine. I've printed several 4x6 photos with unbelievable resolution, and with no ink usage showing in the utility. Printing a number of emails has used a significant amount of black ink, more that my old R 320 did, but the print quality is good even on cheap paper. Other reviewers have complained about the paper guides and trays being flimsy, but I think they are perfectly adequate, and they save some in the total weight of the machine which is on the heavy side anyway. Two thumbs up for this great machine.

Not so great!!

When I first purchased this Artisan 800 All-In-One, I thought it was the greatest thing since butter. It worked great for the first few print jobs (DVD Labels) and then it just quit working at all. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and it still does not work. When I launch the Print CD software, all appears to be great. When I select Background or Picture, the entire program stops working. It is not just a situation with one computer but with three different personal computers and my work laptop as well. At first I contributed it to the 64bit operating system but have since discovered the same problem on a 32bit OS (Vista and XP) and on the MAC OS. Until Epson gets it right, I would say, "DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY".

I have this printer for less than a year and never have a problem wen printing on regular paper, just the other day I want to print some picture 4x6 and the printer start making some noise like it jam the paper but it did not jam and did not print I try several time. I call my daugther that print some picture before and say the same happen to her, the solution was that she hold pushing the tray forwar and then it work, it print. sure I did and the printer work. This is unaceptable, this printer have a problem and should be recall or find a solution to it now. I be waiting to see what is going to happen.

Great for a few weeks

I have had my Artisan 800 for about six months now. At first it was a great piece of equipment. I have 3 other Epson printers in my home office that have never given me trouble. The FAX has never worked, the scanner has scanned less than 20 pages through the ADF in six months and the ADF no longer works. The printer is setup wirelessly but only one of 4 wireless computers in the room can print to it now. The photo printing on a 4 x 6 Premium Glossy leaves a 1/8" white strip on the end. I can no longer recommend Epson printers.

Not worth the time or money

For as much as I paid for this printer when it first came out, I expected it to be a lot simpler to use and the quality to be exceptional. I am having ink consumption issues and delayed printing issues due to "please do not open the scanner unit while it is warming up" which also eats up a good amount of the ink while doing so. During the "scanner warm-up" process, it takes about 3-5 minutes, when all I asked was to print a simple document. Too many technicalities for a printer that bestows itself as "sophisticated, yet simple."
