I'm mostly happy with this cooktop EXCEPT for the fact that the stainless steel edge scratches VERY easily. There are several small scratches around the edges and I am still not sure what is causing them. I don't set things on the cooktop that could scratch it, I don't use an abrasive sponge on it, and I only use stainless steel cleaner or water to clean the steel. Recently I thought maybe I was getting the cooktop cleaner on the steel (which I discovered could be abrasive even though it appears smooth) - but I'm pretty sure there have been new scratches since I started taking extra care not to get that on the stainless steel. So, I'm at a loss. I am not careless with this cooktop - it was the most expensive appliance I bought for my kitchen remodel and I have actually been extremely careful with it, so its frustrating to see all those mysterious scratches.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
