I have had this unit for several years. It still works just fine. However, I noticed a few months ago the paint was peeling from the interior top. I see the paint is now peeling from the interior bottom also. Too bad. This unit is just right for our needs. I have a smaller GE unit in basement we use for snacks, etc. It is older and it has never been a problem. Time to purchase a new microwave. Not GE.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great microwave

We've had this basic microwave for 6.5 years. Never any major problems. The paint flakes off the bottom like every turntable microwave I've ever had. But this never interfears with the use or function in any way.
If you can still find one pick it up. It will give years of service for not much cash

We have had a similar GE microwave for the past 20 years. In fact we have had 2 at a time since 1995. With the purchase of these 2 new ones for our kitchen we have 3, a smaller, lower powered one is in the basement (we take it on trips). I seldom use the stove but often have 2 microwaves going at once. My favorite features are the once touch buttons 1-6 for that many minutes and the add 30 seconds button. I use the popcorn button a lot too. I like the looks of the white ones; the size (1.1 cu ft) and power (1100 watts) are perfect for what I need them to do.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Only lasted 2 1/2 years

After just owning the microwave for 2 1/2 years, the transformer in the panel went out and the microwave has no power and I have to buy a new microwave - but definitely won't be a GE.

Well, I had this model for 3 yrs., so I guess that's better than the previous reviewer! I'm starting to believe newer microwaves only last about 3 yrs. now, especially if you use them as often as me. I'm always heating up coffee, but really... 3 yrs... dissapointing. Oh, my new one appears cheaper yet!! But.. it cost me more??

paint inside oven peeled off

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This oven was manufactured, according to the tag, in Jan. 2008 in Malaysia. It has worked well over the years, but the fact that the paint inside the oven is continually peeling off, is very annoying to say the least. The poor quality control leaves a bad taste in our mouth for any GE product.

Pros: Appearance
Cons: Gets hot on top after 4 mins of use
Not a lot of features
Push button to open it is broke...one of the springs
came out on one side so you have to maneuver it
back in or it will stay on after closing door
