Very Good with Very Annoying things

Good: The keyboard functionality is EXCELLENT. it's like having a normal, wired keyboard. having the up/down/left/right arrow buttons are a Godsend for those of us with fat fingers. The backlighting is a fantastic addition and was the one reason we picked this keyboard over the other options. (just make sure to turn it off - fn-5 button - when done or it will drain the keyboard batter quicker). Dedicated caps lock button helps as well.
Bad: the magnetic release is great if you are often switching between keyboard and free form tablet, but can get clunky if not; also I'm still waiting for the day my kids grab the keyboard and the tablet disconnects. The connection isn't that strong enough to hold together. the Bluetooth connection also has an occasional delay, plus the below issue. the top left button brings you back to the home screen and is kind of redundant, and annoying if you hit it accidentally.
REALLY ANNOYING: the Bluetooth connection consistenly disconnects and won't automatically reconnect. This started happening less than a year into owning, and now happens on the regular (~1/wk). it's not complicated to reconnect (see below) but it's annoying as ---- and just becomes one of those small user interface things that makes the experience worse (particularly for infrequent users and/or someone who cannot simply Google the fix, which has happened to my wife twice on airplanes).
FIX: Settings - Bluetooth and click the circled "i" next to Belkin Ultimate Keyboard, and choose Forget This Device - OK. Turn OFF bluetooth on iPad (swipe button at top). Hold down fn and the Delete key (it also has a Bluetooth logo with a 1 next to it) for about 5 sec until the little blue light on the right flashes on and off. Turn on Bluetooth and re-pair.

Hi, tsharpe2,

If you upgraded your iPad to iOS 7, you may experience issues with your iPad freezing. While the issue is rare, it is not unique to Belkin Keyboards and can occur with all Bluetooth keyboards when syncing with the iPad due to a functionality change in iOS 7 that was not present in iOS 6. For queries and assistance, we can be reached anytime at BelkinCares@belkin.com. We'd be more than happy to serve you.

Best regards,

Jay

Case broke in less than a year.

I loved the keyboard case for my iPad 2. Yesterday, after owning the Belkin, for less than a year, while closing the case, the lower right corner, where the magnet is, simply broke when lifting from the keyboard. This is unsatisfactory and too bad, since I do like the product.

Works great, good battery life. Only complaint is the weight. The IP itself is a little heavy, and the case is also, making it a bit cumbersome. However, it gets the work done nicely.

Was great while it lasted

I bought this in silver not quite a year ago and it looked and worked great. I recently reset my iPad 2 and now the keyboard won't connect. It turns on but won't work anymore. It also didn't protect my iPad very well - one small drop with it in this case and the whole screen on my iPad shattered.
Response from belkin.comBy Belkin Customer SupportOctober 8, 2016
Hi, Skyep,

The iPad should still be able to detect and pair with the keyboard. Try pairing it with another iPad if there's any to isolate this challenge. Update us with the results via BelkinCares@belkin.com and indicate your phone number, photos of the shattered screen, and the link to this post.

Poorly constructed!

Product is great due to disconnecting and not having hinges. However I had both problems stated in the reviews on here. The keyboard would show but not connect after a few months. Also I went to close it and it broke in the bottom right corner for no reason. Would not recommend due to the price.
Response from belkin.comBy BelkinCustomer SupportJanuary 21, 2017
Hi, Jmillikan22,

The keyboard should last longer than you had it as all of our products went through rigorous test to ensure its durability and functionality. It would be best if you'll email us some photos of its broken part at BelkinCares@belkin.com with your phone number and the link to this post so we can have our Support team look closely into this.

No longer works!

This keyboard case, in silver, was given to me as a gift about 2 years ago and now, it no longer works. It won't take a charge, nor will it show up in my list of devices in order for me to pair it with my iPad. I really, really liked this keyboard case, very disappointing!
Response from belkin.comBy BelkinCustomer SupportJanuary 29, 2017
Hi, Tslake,

Aside from using another cable to charge the keyboard, try also plugging it into another USB port on a computer or USB wall charger. To assist you further, we'd like to have you contacted by our Support team. Please email us at BelkinCares@belkin.com with your phone number and the link to this post.

Great while it lasted

Lasted roughly a year of use, and would have recommended this item to anyone looking to turn their iPad into a 2-in-1 laptop/tablet. Now however the keyboard doesn't not work because it will input additional keys that were not pressed. The buttons feel cheap. Feels like a quality case though.

Hi, Timt19,

The QODE Ultimate Keyboard Case should last longer than what you've described. We suggest resetting the keyboard by pressing the four (4) corner keys for 5 seconds. Update us how it goes at BelkinCares@belkin.com with your contact details and the link to this review.
