The loss of light is a drag, but doubling reach is well worth it. Pairing with the 200-600 is great for wildlife. I take my dogs with me on all my outdoor activities and this combo allows me shoot things before they run off. There may be a loss of detail but I haven't really noticed it. What I notice more is motion blur from trying to hold steady with the increased focal length and slower shutter speeds due to the loss of light. But I think it's well worth it to get that extra reach.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Better then other teleconverters

I use this with my Sony 300mm f/2.8 lens. If I had written this review a year ago I would have not given a favorable review. Teleconverters are hard to use and get good results. I have learned to take my time and trust my histograms and make needed exposure adjustments. Then it works well.
What's great about it: High image quality
What's not so great: It takes a while to learn how to use it.
Use 2X telexteder on 70~200 F4 Macro to get 1to1 to 400mm to photograph flowers & 400mm to photograph birds. It is light and optically outstanding performance.best of all even F4 lens, outstanding sharpness.
