[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Purchased this last month to replace a thirteen year old side by side that refused to stay cool, and the company said it could not be repaired. Viewed most of the fridges on the net with their evaluations, went to a different appliance store and viewed a large selection. The most expensive one appeared as a twin to the KitchenAid, but was $1200 more expensive and did not have a humidity control regulator. In fact, I was unable to tell the fridges apart except for the outside labels on the doors. Have had the KitchenAid for three weeks now and could not be more pleased.

The idea of putting the freezer on the really helps. It was sometimes difficult to reach items on the bottom shelf when produce was on the bottom.

We wanted a streamlined look with upscale stainless steel appliances. Not wanting to install the absolute top-of-the-line Sub-Zero, we decided upon a somewhat less expensive—yet still upscale—counter-depth French Door model. (Additionally, for our mudroom, we purchased another French Door refrigerator to increase our storage capacity.)
It is obvious that any counter-depth refrigerator will have much less storage than a standard depth; a counter-depth model is also more expensive than a standard-depth. That said, we really wanted that streamlined appearance. The interior of this Kitchen Aid model is more commodious than other counter-depth fridges, due to its excellent design, which is similarly patterned from larger versions. The interior plastic components are sturdy. I love the water dispenser, which is located on the INSIDE of the refrigerator. The ice-maker below features a drawer with a detachable scoop for retrieval; often a negative feature in other freezers, this ice-maker performs brilliantly, as ice is always seemingly available in copious quantities.
In the three months that we have had this Kitchen Aid, we are very pleased with our purchase.
