Once set up I am getting my local news channel that I could not get before with previous antenna, assembly only has a few steps but directions are a little unclear also the holes for the crossbar bolts were missing for one of the sections so I just drilled a couple holes rather then return and have to wait.... overall a good antenna
House is about 60 miles from Chicago stations. Previous antenna installed in 2nd floor attic, standard tv antenna, advertised range 50 -60 miles. The antenna was very sensitive to direction and often lost signal depending on time of day and weather. The DB8 is also installed in the attic and just barely fits. Found a direction that picks up most of the channels clearly. I can get total over 90 channels, whereas previously only able to get about 60. The signal is much stronger and stays locked in where the previous antenna lost it. The antenna is easy to assemble and the price is right, very happy with purchase.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The antenna worked well for my application. I can pick all the signals in the direction pointed at about 38 miles away. Directions for assemble could be better but overall a good product.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this antenna for my father in law. He had an existing 4-Element Bowtie Antenna that didn't quite pull in the local ABC station. It would work sometimes at night, which only made it even more frustrating. We installed this DB8 8-Element Bowtie Antenna and got it pointed in the general direction that it needed to go and presto! ABC came in with a strong signal in the middle of the day. Needless to say, all of the other channels came in as well with no trouble. I wish that we'd upgraded his antenna sooner...
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I work for the local NBC station, which is a Lower Power Digital station. I had previously used a long yagi, but the signal was inconsistent. I installed the DB 8, and while on the tower put it up about 5 feet higher, and the signal is now consistent.
captboba: I read your review and must tell you that you have something seriously wrong! Lossy/long/budget coax? Maybe a staple in your coax (f you used a staple gun) or perhaps your coax was crushed somewhere? ALSO CONNECTORS must be installed correctly. Know some COAX has foam bits that MUST be TOTALLY removed from the center conductor. Be SURE that center conductor is LONG enough to make proper connection inside it's mating junction! If you have extra coax do not leave it coiled up... cut to proper length!
