This is my first side-by-side; I think there's slightly less refrigerator space, but more freezer room. This is great because I cook and bake in quantity and freeze for those times when there's not time to cook, or when I need to take baked goods to a sick friend, or for unexpected guests.
Two things prevent this refrigerator from a great rating. First, the vegetable bins do not open wide enough to put in iceberg lettuce or cabbage. Not sure why it is designed like this. The other is that despite having plenty of room there are only three selves in the freezer. If you want more they must be ordered like a part. The refrigerator is beautiful and mechanically works great.
I find it very attractive. I like that it is only counter depth so that it doesn't stand out beyond my counters. I wish that the built in wine holder were removable, and I wish there was more room for tall bottles.
Pros: Quiet, Attractive Design, Energy Efficient
Cons: Limited Shelving Options, I wish I could remove the wine holder
I like the outside design. The items I don't like in comparison to my last Jennair are, shows finger prints on the door. The shelves inside are always wet. Do not like the shelves that attach to the door. The metal parts and the holes/openings on the sides. Things fall out.
Pros: Attractive Design, I'm still getting moisture inside of food, Easy Access
Cons: Poor Layout, Limited Shelving Options, Flimsy Shelves, do not like the design of the door shelves
This is my second Jenn-Air refrigerator. The first one we bought was a counter depth french door refrigerator which I thought had shelves that were not really that secure, not to mention that we had to replace the ice maker four times. After that situation, we returned the french door refrigerator and purchased the side by side one we have now. The shelves are a bit more sturdy but already (within only 2 weeks of owning the refrigerator!), we have already replaced the ice-maker. Waiting to see how long it will last this time. Not confident that we will keep this refrigerator either.
We bought this high end refrigerator because our new home was equipped with Jenn-Aire ranges, microwave and dishwasher. Overall the outside appearance is very much in line with the other Jenn-aire appliances. We were surprised that the sides were not stainless on the model we chose. The unit came with the wrong door handles, but Jenn-Aire sent replacements within a couple weeks. Just wish they made a 42 inch version without the motor on top and at a cost double what this unit was.
Fridge is great. I was concerned that the counter depth would not hold enough, but have been happy. It's actually easier to find things in the shallower fridge, and fewer science projects grow in the back. It will hold a gallon of milk on the door. We've been disappointed in the ice making speed/capacity. It will work fine for a while, then will stop making ice for a week. Then it takes a while to catch back up and refill the bin. Did the flow test, and the water pressure seems fine. It's been doing better for the last month or so - hopefully it will continue to cooperate. We also miss the ease of having seperate ice/water paddles for dispensing. It's annoying having to push buttons to tell it what you want. But it works as designed. The crushed ice is awesome! I got rid of my snowcone maker and just use the freezer.
