like other people have said door does not always open when button is pushed. sometimes if you shut the door to hard the display goes blank. 5 beeps at end of cooking cycle continue even if door is opened (our last microwave would stop beeping when you opened the door). also don't like that it beeps again if you don't open the door after a set time, maybe you are doing something else and cant get to it right away. if you put something in and close the door but don't start it right away it says door when you program in the time and try to push start. last microwave had a stop/clear button instead of just cancel so you could stop the cooking without opening the door which is what you have to do with this model. a 90 degree plug end would be better than the straight one it has.

Beware of display color

If it is important for you to have matching displays on your appliances if they are near each other, beware that the display for this model is actually brught orange instead of the blue that is shown. At least the one that was given to us was. The photos on all the various websites are very misleading. Now we're stuck with something that doesn't match the rest of our appliances in our brand new home. Very disappointing. Can someone at Whirlpool explain why the pictures online are different from reality?

I purchased for anew home. I have to place my hand on back of Micro wave and push the darn button super hard to open. If I dont hold the back of the unit, it slides to the back of the counter without opening. And the popcorn setting is useless. Not exaggerating...it only pops about one third of the kernels. I have purchased several brands of pop corn with the same result. I bought an entire kitchen suite and washer and dryer. I am so disgusted with the microwave that I am going to have to purchase a new one,but not whirlpool

Worked for short time

Disappointed

I bought this microwave for our new house 2.5 years ago. Recently, it began sparking and making a horrible noise. We thought it might be a fluke so we let it ride, but unfortunately it did it again so we had to remove it. We’re in a tough position now because our cabinets were built to fit this microwave and we can’t find a replacement similar in size! So do we risk it and order the same microwave or order a new cabinet for a different microwave? Either option is disappointing for only having it for 2.5 years.

Problems after only 2.5 years

Like another reviewer, we bought this microwave for our new house around 2.5 years ago. Recently, it began sparking and making a horrible noise. We thought it might be a fluke so we let it ride, but unfortunately it kept this up, so we have to remove it. We’re in a tough position now because our cabinets were custom
built to fit this microwave and we can’t find a replacement similar in size! So do we risk it and order the same or similar microwave from whirlpool or order a new Custom cabinet for a different microwave? Either option is disappointing for only having it for 2.5 years and the cost of having new cabinets built is insane.

Good Size

So we have two of these units. One in main Kitchen and one win basement. Had the sparking issue a few times and just replaced the shield on sidewall now works fine. The one in the basement that is newer is a different story. It's probably been used 20 or 30 times and has stopped working. It sounds like everything is running properly but won't heat up anything. The unit upstairs is 6 years old and is used multiple times a day with very few glitches. If anyone nows how to fix other unit it would be a great help since they are not cheap to replace. The newer unit is only 2.5 years old....
