Uses too much of the color ink even when printing in black and white.

Good, but costly ink usage

I needed an inexpensive all-in-one with AirPrint and the Epson XL-410 seemed like a good bet. It was easy to install (did a manual wireless installation (by choice) and had no problems). It prints pretty good in text and pictures; however, my HP OfficeJet Pro 8500A prints better in both categories - that is until it died! Thank goodness I already received the XL-410. I knew the XL-410 had a high cost per page, but my usage is fairly light and I thought it would not be an issue. However, after the death of my HP, I printed about 25 pages of text and 25 pages of pictures since installing the XL-410 and the black ink was completely depleted with the colors each being between 60 and 80 percent depleted. After a total of 50 pages, I had to buy four new cartridges of ink. I sure hope the ink cartridges that came with the printer are not filled to the same level as purchased cartridges. We'll see as I monitor usage of the new cartridges after installation (at this time only the black had been replaced with a new XL cartridge).

My incredible Epson XP-410 printer

After searching for a good photo printer, I decided on an Epson XP-410 photo/document printer. It produces excellent photo copies from my photo library, and does it wirelessly. The results are sharp 4"x6" photos (other photo sizes are capable) with rich, vibrant colors, and they are each produced in short order. It also produces crisp letter sized documents in color or B&W to supplement my older Epson Stylus NX400 printer, the home office workhorse. Both have scanning functions, as well. I recommend the XP-410 to anyone looking for a reliable, well-functioning printer that is reasonably priced. Oh, and it is both PC and Mac compatible!

Good compact printer-scanner-copier

I bought this printer primarily for printing, scanning and copying work documents that I generate at home. It was very reasonably priced and it works well with the software programs I have on my computer. It was easy to install and has performed consistently for more than a year without any obvious problems. I recently used it to print a large number of high quality color photos and was very pleased with the results. I have not yet tried the function for modifying/restoring photos so I cannot comment on that aspect of the printer. The only issue I have is with the copy function which seems unnecessarily complex, providing too many choices for making a simple copy. You find yourself caught in a loop of choices, unable to get a simple copy. I resolved this problem once I figured out that 'less is best' when copying most documents. I have recommended it to 3 friends and would be likely to buy another one (or an updated model) when necessary.
