Self cleaning?!?

Had this handsome electric glass top, self clean a bit more than 1 year and I spend as much time cleaning it as cooking with it. Our earlier glass top, self clean was easy to keep, but this new, improved model with similar sounding features is a real pain, not at all self cleaning. With this one all that's missing are the fumes of the oven cleaners that mom had to use. The activity involved with cleaning the oven is about the same...reach, scrap, wipe to prepare for the "self clean" cycle, then pour water in bottom & wait, OK, shorter wait, but then you are back bending over for the cleaning game to getting the excess water off the bottom, once again rubbing what the self-clean didn't remove....remember, no harsh chemicals or scouring powders allowed...or if your back is up to it, try the ineffective cycle again....don't you just love your new Range? The glass cook top also has improvements. 1) it only comes in black, so everyone knows when it needs cleaning.. the white one before this only showed large spills, black acts as a mirror and shows every spot, splash, drip or crumb that falls on its surface. 2) the smooth easy to clean glass now has a tiny texture that really holds anything that doesn't stay in the pan. Now spend time using glass top cleaner, wipe that residue off, then see what didn't come off, then use the razor scraper and rinse again. 3) the broiler is if--y...door open as we've been taught doesn't work all the time....ok, i could read the instructions...again....but it shouldn't be that complicated to turn on the broiler for the occassional steak...door open/closed? Really, I'm ready to shop for a real self clean with a smooth glass top. My tired self demands it. I might have to go pre-owned to get the real mccoy.

Pretty good range

I am happy with the range. It looks nice, is easy to clean, and I like the oven, which seems to be convection. However, for those who want to do canning, make jam, or candy, the burners will not keep up a rolling boil. Even on "high", they are programmed to only maintain 212 degrees, and will cycle off when the pan reaches that temperature. It would also be nice if someone would design a piece - that comes with the range - to fill in the back space between the back of the range and the splashback.

I recently did a small remodel in my kitchen and this was part of my project. I love the look of the range and it is so easy to operate. It has so many great features but it is not so complex that I have to continually have the book out to figure out what to do. Price was very good and I am extremely pleased with my purchase!

I have owned this stove for just 3 years. LOVE the look and up until last week was happy with the way it cooked. Went to cook dinner one night hit bake button and nothing. The burners work, but nothing else. I paid 3x as much money for this "flat top" stove for the oven to stop working after just 3 years and I mean JUST 3 years (hit 3 year 9 weeks ago). Having trouble finding someone reasonable to come out and look at this; the few I have spoken to are telling me could be costly to fix....GREAT! Very disappointed in Whirlpool.

I TOO PURCHASED THIS STOVE A LITTLE OVERA MONTH AGO. THIS STOVE IS FAR ABOVE MY PREVIOUS STOVE. THE QUICK RESPONSE OF BURNERS/OVEN WHEN TURNED ON IS AMAZINGWHEN I COMPARE WITH MY PREVIOUS STOVE.THI STOVE HAS EXCEEDed ANY EXPECTIONS I HAD UPON PURCHASING.I HAVE ALWAYS TRUSTED WHIRLPOOL AND WILL CONTINUE TO MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO PURCHASE WHIRLPOOL APPLIANCES IN THE FUTURE.

purchased it end of year 2014. just got it installed first of this year. Looks so fantastic, cleans so fantastic, cooks and bake great. can't say enough about it. Later this year remodel and it will fit in island beautifully. Love It !!!
