A useful piece of kit. A swiss army knife of a radio with AM/FM/GMRS/NWS receiver. Can be charged with crank or by pluging into a USB/c outlet. Also has a flashlight. The receiver works well and provides valuable use for emergencies or power outage. Also useful for just listening to your favorite stations music etc. I think this is a minimum must have for any household as an emergency comms tool.

Haven't had a chance to use it in the field yet, but checking it out at home it seems to be a very legitimate unit, not a childs toy.

I’ve had this for several years. It’s a great little all-in-one prepper radio at a very good price. Pros: Power by wall charger, car charger, internal rechargeable battery, replaceable AA batteries, or hand-crank. Has USB out to charge your phone. Transmit and receive on FRS and GMRS channels 1-22. Receive FM and AM commercial radio Receive NOAA weather channels. Activate on NOAA weather alerts. Basic channel scan and dual watch capabilities. CTCSS and DCS squelch support. Backlit LCD display, including Clock. Easy to use. Loud full speaker, and good speaker mic. Very light, strap facilitates hiking/camping. Very good price for all of this.
Cons: CRITICAL - Can’t transmit on GMRS repeater input frequencies, and no split CTCSS/DCS support. MINOR - Can’t remove/replace antenna. Not IPX dustproof or waterproof. Unknown transmit power. (On GMRS channels it should be 5 watts, but it’s clearly less than that.)
The power capabilities are fabulous. The lack of GMRS repeater transmit is disappointing. But the price is very good for what you get.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Random Alarm Going Off in Middle of Night

Not sure about the rest of the functions of the radio, but I've had it a few weeks, and last night around 3am its, I guess, SOS Alarm just decides to go off on its own! ... At first I thought it was a neighbors' alarm system, because it didn't sound like it was coming from inside the house and my SimpliSafe system said all was well .... I laid in bed waiting for the alarm to go off, but after 20 minutes I got up to go outside and investigate only to discover that the alarm was in fact this silly radio going off in the box sitting in my office .... I have no idea why that SOS alarm went off, it was sitting securely in its own box for weeks in the same spot .... I will be storing without a battery in it from now on.
