I ordered the Midland Base camp XT511 about a month ago. I received it very quickly. However, the one that I received is pretty much a total piece of junk.
First, the battery power indicator only shows either completely full or one bar when it's completely empty. When I was charging it it didn't show if the radio was charging and so you have no idea what level your battery is at.

Next, it started to completely freeze up on me. You couldn't use the radio, GMRS but the flashlight still worked. I would take the battery out and put it back in and reset it and it would work for a little bit. However, I had to do it again and now I can't get any radio stations AM or FM nor can I get anybody on GMRS. I will be contacting Midland right after I write this review to let them know about it. The only reason I'm posting this is because I have absolutely no doubt Midland will take care of me and like any thing, mechanical or electrical. You can always get a lemon. Once I have this replaced I will update and let you know about the one they replaced it with. I have purchased many Midland radios and this is the first time I've ever had a bad one, in other words, I have total faith in this company and look forward to posting about being taken care of through customer service.

This Midland Radio is allows for communication anywhere it can be carried; in the RV, at home, on a camping trip. And, it compliments our other Midland communication equipment. With Jeep Jamborees adopting GMRS communication, as well as our 4WD Club becoming more interested in moving away from CB, I recently acquired my FCC license, purchased a Midland Micro Mobile, 3 DB & 6 DB antennas as well as the deluxe internal speaker. Clear radio communication!

It’s got nice features for an emergency tool such as weather band, light, GMRS and hand crank. But the quality feels cheap, especially the hand mic.

No complains.. Bought this to use as backup radio in my farm, and I couldn’t be more satisfied. I’ve tested with some X-talker series and worked amazing! Now i plan on complete my kit with one micromobile for my truck

I purchased the X-GMRS to keep with our BOB in our storm shelter. Testing it out, it seems easy to operate, allows us to communicate with each other and the various ways to obtain power is great. The only thing I do not like and it will lose a star for it is the construction (plastic) of the unit feels as if it would be easy to break.
