Blown away

Wandering through a local store, my wife and I were browsing TV sets. We spotted this one on an end-cap, with a nice display set up. The picture quality was absolutely incredible, that was just in 2D mode. I pressed the button on the display switching it into 3D mode, and was absolutely stunned. To say that I became obsessed with getting this TV is an understatement. Payday came, we went and bought it. Set up was very easy, and took less than 10 minutes. We watched in 2D the first night. The following afternoon, when I got home from work, I discovered that this TV had the 2D to 3D feature. A few buttons on the remote later, and I was watching a regular Blu-Ray movie in 3D! I wear glasses, and the 3D glasses that come with the set fit well in front of them with no discomfort. I can honestly say that I highly recommend this TV. It comes with wireless LAN capabilities, and many Apps to choose from, including Netflix. In all, complete satisfaction with it.
Pros: Performance, Style/Design, easy to use, Features/Settings, Quality

Best 3D TV in it's class!

My previous TV was on its way out (dying pixels) so I started researching for a new one. I checked out Sony, Samsung, Sharp, Panasonic, etc for a 3D model. They were/are all good, but I didn't want the expense of active electronic 3D glasses to contend with. I then read a couple of articles on LG products and how they had transitioned from an inexpensive price brand (Gold Star) to a major player in the electronic world. I happened to be in my local COSTCO where one was set up to watch 3D with inexpensive passive 3D glasses. I was immediately blown away and sold. I bought the set immediately - took it home - set it up and have enjoyed the best television experience(s) of my life. (By the way, the 3D glasses we got when we saw AVATAR in 3D at the theater work just fine when viewing 3D on this set too.)
Its wireless set up was quick and easy and we had NETFLIX (streaming) in minutes. (My only complaint is a minor one regarding LG's interface with NETFLIX. Unlike using a ROKU, fast forwarding is tedious with the LG APP, but since that is my only complaint, consider my overall rating dropping from 5.0 to 4.999999999999999999 - big deal)
I was not even aware, when I bought the set, that it could convert 2D to a passable (in most cases) 3D view. My wife and I were blown away watching "Tangled" broadcast in 2D but watched in 3D.
I am looking forward to coupling this TV with the LG BD670 or BD690 3D video player.
So far one of my sons and one of my friends have purchased LG TV sets on my recommendation and both are happy with their purchases.
All in all, I my wife and I love the set and cannot say enough good about it. Great job LG!

LG - Life's Great! :)

We have had this TV (47LW5700) for a few weeks now and are mostly pleased with it. We have not used other items with it yet (DVD and Wii) , just watched various channels on our new TV (2D so far).
After buying it, I did some research on this TV. One of the major benefits was about the picture quality, which it is great! One of the major complaints was about the sound/volume quality, which is okay. The sound/volume quality is lacking compared to all of the other great features.
I am still pleased with my Valentine's & Birthday gift though. :) As for the party who bought this gift, is not as pleased for the price paid, especially with the sound/volume issues (doesn't enjoy constantly changing the volume).
Pros: Style/Design

The best value out there

This TV is "practically perfect in every way". It has LED Edge lighting, a matte screen, a thin bezel, very accurate color, better 3D than the theater 3D, built-in WiFi, Smart Apps like Netflix, and tons of features. It was probably discontinued because the fast pace of technology and competition keeps requiring change, but for us, this TV had the complete mix at a price to satisfy us for years to come.

Great TV

I picked up this TV mainly because of the cost and features other than 3D. I figured 3D would be a bonus and after seeing the difference between LG's 3D and the active-shutter 3D on other TVs I'm glad I picked this one.

Superb Television

After two months, am very pleased with this TV. Excellent picture - clear and brilliant. Easy to setup and use. Streaming wireless Netflix easy (though it is easier to "search" online first to decide what to watch then activate TV). Picks up over-the-air broadcasts as well as cable input. (Only have HD over the air and not with my cable service.) Only disappointment is the apparent inability to expand - without distortion - "letter-boxed" broadcasts - even if not to full screen.
Pros: Performance, Style/Design, easy to use, Quality

great buy...

I've been doing research on 3dtv and i have to say this model was a great buy. The quality is very clean in both 2d and 3d. The one thing I very much like is that its flicker free. I have a 3dtv that uses flicker glasses and those are so uncomfortable. LG did a great job on this model and its very affordable. I do own a laptop, xbox 360 and a PS3. This model works great with both game consoles and the laptop. When i got into the display settings, it was fairly easy to use but experts can use their own settings for a much better quality display. i don't think i'm going to trade this tv for another in a long while.
Pros: all of the above
I would recommend this to a friend!
