I was given this same steamer for a Christmas gift at least 6 or more years ago. I used it about 5 out of every 7 days and liked the versatility and that it had 2 baskets. I steamed my hard boiled eggs in it once a week and vowed never to babysit a pan of boiling eggs ever again. When I cracked the lid a few weeks ago, I decided to buy a new one and not repair the crack. I selected the digital/programmable one as I am sold on the model overall. Boy, was I in for a treat! Planning the steaming of veggies to finish on time with the other dishes has made dinner prep go from great to perfect! Best steamer you will find and a great price with superior quality. Will never buy anything else if they keep making it!

Good, Bad and Ugly

I've been using this steamer model for 5+ years, at a rate of about units two per year. We really like it, but we have two issues with it. We wash the plastic bowls in the dishwasher, and the clear pieces crack into pieces after 6mos. The opaque pieces are fine. 2nd, Oster improved the electronics a few years ago, and since then, until recently, it worked just fine. But recently, just like prior to the improvements, the display begins to display 888 instead of time's eventually leading to complete failure to turn on.

Breaks after a year

Love how much easier life is with this steamer

I've had this model for 8 years - use it every week to hard cook eggs and in between for all my veggies and rice dishes. I dropped the lid the other day and will see if I can superglue the crack. If not, at least I know they're still making it.

We have been using this steamer for 7 years +. We love it. The only problem we have had is that our primary bowl was the Upper steaming bowl... and it lasts for about 2 years and then starts cracking. I repair it with super glue until I can't repair it any longer and I have tried to buy a new bowl and it is never available. The lower steaming bowl can be used instead but that is somewhat smaller and not a useful. We have now had to buy a second unit to get the bowl... and I'm now loking a getting a third. I would much rather just buy a replacement bowl.

This steamer replaces an older one. I love that it is digital and the bowls are so large. The rice bowl is a nice feature as is the window that shows water level and being able to add more water using the water inlet. The instant steam function is great. I like the delay cooking and the self-protection features. The steamer is very easy to use and food turns out great; I can cook a small amount or a larger amount. of food. The instruction pamphlet is very helpful and has useful suggestions. It was easy to order and arrived without delay.I'm glad that I selected this product.
