A full web browser would knock it out of the park.

I did more research and spent more time waiting for this set to come out. I was sold on Samsung but this set's pq blew away both their plasma and LED displays. If Sharp had a full web brower, I could give it five stars. Unfortunately you cannot download a flash player which pretty much minimizes alot of streaming opportunities. With all the other bells and whistles on this top of the line set, they could have easily improved the brower. Knowing what I know now, I would buy one of the cheaper sets and add a blue ray player with full web browsing capabilities.

I recommend this product to anyone looking for a high quality large LED TV, I only wish I could have accomodated the 80 inch version. I had to have a custom entertainment center for and it looks awesome.

My LC70847U has been a great television for the last month that I’ve owned it. It has almost plasma like blacks, and very accurate color, once calibrated. I do have a small issue with some faint clouds appearing during scenes that transition from light to dark, but it’s not enough for me to return this item. Sharp service has been very good - I have a tech coming out next week to address a problem when watching 3D, not a deal breaker for me, because I don’t watch that much 3D content, but it would be nice to watch 3D without halos around objects.
Speaking of 3D, it would have been nice to have 3D content available from the VUDU apps. I upgraded to this panel from a 65 inch Mitsubishi DLP. The reason I upgraded was to have a slightly larger television, and to get back 18 inches of depth. Also, the Sharp is dead silent in its operation, and my cat can’t walk across the top of the tv! It also has a matte finish to the screen to minimize reflections. In closing, I’m very satisfied with the performance of this panel.

Excellent 70" 3D LED TV

Sharp designed this TV, therefore Sharp knows about their TV more than we do, so if you don't touch the default settings, the TV will work just fine, unless you have a problem with vision. It is a 5-star TV to me.

I'm currently not very happy with this tv. Picture is not very bright and clear even with Blue Ray. I'm still adjusting but not happy. It may be just the size but not clear. I recently saw a 40" and the clarity reached out and grabbed me.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

INCREDIBLE HOME VIEWING EXPERIENCE!

After nearly a year of ownership, not a single fault. I agonized over a 3D TV with active or passive glasses. I must say the 3D image is amazing and significantly brighter than our friends' 3D TVs with passive glasses. I'm sure that trend a technology will change, but for now, our Sharp 8 Series set is much brighter. Those friends agree.
The Quattron technology also has much truer colors than our previous 3-color sets. We compared two other brands of sets side-by-side running a split signal from a BlueRay player. Great care was taken to ensure the signal was equally good to all three sets by use of an active HDMI splitter. The LC-70C8470U won hands down on brightness, color, lack of smearing on action scenes, and especially 3D rendering. We were sold on the spot. The sales person was surprised as was clearly an advocate of one of the other brands. his comments was "He'd have to rethink the whole Sharp Quattron thing along with the Sharp active 3D sets'".
It's the best TV we've ever owned and we've owned LG, Samsung, Hitachi, and the supposed giant killer, Sony. This Sharp puts them all to shame.
