Racks

The racks in the freezer do not fit the shelves. Any time you put the slightest bit of weight on the racks, they fall. I find this very aggrivating. We bought the GE Cafe dishwasher, dual-fuel range and the side by side stainless steel refrigerator. I love the dishwasher and range. I would purchase them again BUT not the refrigerator. Something as simple as a rack not staying in place is a big disappointment.

7 year is far to young to die!

Same exact problem. Any talk of a recall? My whole kitchen is GE Cafe and paid a premium price. I will not replace the GE Cafe Refrigerator with another GE if 7 years is the replacement life expectancy. Not Happy!

Make sure you buy a service contract

Memorial Day Weekend - 5 hrs before the big BBQ at the house .....wake up to find refrigerator side over 99 degrees. Instead of cooling, it is cooking....
Really? No service until Tuesday. Guess we will be doing take-out to feed our guests.
This is the 3rd time in the last year. Thankfully we bought a maintenance contract.

Will not buy another GE fridge

Since 2013, when we bought our house, the interior wall of the fridge—closest to the freezer—has been icy or covered with condensation, despite the fact that we keep the freezer and fridge at the recommended temps. Water pools beneath the veggie bins and we develop mildew, despite our cleaning the fridge regularly. Also, there are so many nooks & crannies—and the shelves are difficult to remove—that it’s really hard to clean. It’s just too gross. We’re going to replace it, even though it’s still [apparently] running and is only 8 yrs old.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Nice looking refrigerator

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So far, so good. Recently received our Cafe Side by Side to match the rest of our Cafe appliances. Makes a huge difference in the appearance of the kitchen. Beautiful. A bit confused with the different Cafe emblems - my understanding is that the newer Cafe appliances will have the gray GE emblems whereas our Advantium and Range have red emblems. Would have preferred to see some consistency on GE's part.

Great Features but.....

My CAFE side-by-side counter-depth stainless steel refrigerator is less than a year old and has rust spots all over the front of both doors. The service technician said it was normal and that I needed a special cleaner for the rust. I called GE, talked to a Consumer Advocate and he told me that cosmetic issues are not covered by the warranty...."it's all on you," he said.

This is the poorest designed ice maker ever. 10 times we've had techs out. So glad they stopped producing this model and I sure understand why..

Also, when the ice bin is full, the pressure from the weight of the cubes can cause the bottom cubes to fuse and clump. This can prevent the icemaker from making new ice. To prevent this from happening, discard the clumped ice and check the bin periodically to ensure the ice is not building up.

Issues with Cooling

Very disappointed with this product. We have had the refrigerator less than four years and have issues with the sealed refrigeration system. The exterior of the refrigerator is beautiful, perhaps greater attention should be given to the working parts.
