Reduced charging
on November 19, 2009

I too have noticed that my rechargeable sonic toothbrush charges up to the maximum bars and then falls back after 1 use. Quickly reaches 1 bar after several uses.
This is a great product but recharging is questionable. ALso many of the labels have worn off in less than 18 mos.

Well designed but brushes pricey and not long-lasting

Brush itself excellent; bought at my dentist's specific recommendation. Easy to use; leaves very clean feeling but location switch signal should be louder. However, brushes don't last long and are very, very expensive, even on amazon.com.
Pros: leaves positive feeling in mouth
Cons: replacement brushes don't last long and are costly

Major problem with rubberized grip on power unit
on November 6, 2011

I have used this unit for over a year and am very satisfied with the overall performance. HOWEVER, and this is a big one, numerous oily black stains have begun to appear on the rubberized grip of the power unit. These stains are coming from the inside out and look terrible. They resemble a nasty black mold. These stains, apparently part of the manufacturing process, will not wash/clean off and seem to be multiplying. They ruin an otherwise great product. I sure wish there was a way to rectify this issue.
This brush does not brush as well as the old sonicate brushes i owned.

Doesn't last long

I had an older Sonicare that worked for 6 years without failure. When I saw this design and the sanitizer, I was sold. The first one lasted just a little over a year. Then it started to get louder, but I thought it ws just me. All of a sudden it stopped. The company replaced it. Then 8 months into it the second time, I had the same issue. Again, Sonicare replaced it, but said this time they warranty would be up. I asked why because these are new units, why not a new warranty. Well they take it from the original purchase…. Nope! Guess what, it has been 16 months and yep, you guessed it, same issue…. Loud, then now hardly moving. I even asked if I was doing something wrong…. Nope. So, although I love the product, it is not work 160 for a year or so. I am going back to the old version that gave me my money’s worth for a fraction of the cost.
Pros: cleans well good sanitizing
Cons: short-lived. not worth the money. buy an old one

Used daily for just under 3 yrs, at which point the switch malfunctionned, requiring replacement. It should last longer, given the price.
Pros: performance
Cons: longevity

Great value for this product

The modes and cycle lengths are useful for both regular cleaning and quick cleaning. Liked how the power gradually increased over the first week or so of brushing. I don't use the UV brush sanitizer, if I bought this again I would go with same model without sanitizer, just takes up room in my cupboard.
I would recommend this to a friend!

effective, great product-except that mine broke after a couple months (twice)

The main reason I purchased the sonic toothbrush is because I got braces. Orthodontia is extremely hard to clean effectively and I do not want stains on my teeth once the braces come off. I just could not get my teeth cleaned well enough with a manual toothbrush so I gave this model a shot. I was so excited and happy with this purchase because it really began to help clean my teeth. The one (big) con is that the head of the toothbrush would break off with part of the top of the actual handle. This happened once and I fixed it, but the second time I could not piece the brush back together no matter what I tried. I used the toothbrush carefully so at the very least I was extremely disappointed with it breaking. But overall I think in the couple first months it lasted, that it was worth the money. I am planning on buying a new sonicare brush again. The sanitation device is a huge plus. I could not imagine it without it. If I were reading this review and debating about whether or not to purchase it (based on my bad luck with the durability of the product) I would still recommend it. Worth your consideration.
Pros: effective, sanitation attachment, fairly compact in size, works with braces, easy to use, time efficient
Cons: durability/design poor, mine broke off part of the handle, expensive
