This little puppy is the killer app for steel cut oats (aka Irish Oatmeal). Put in 3/4 cup of steel cut oats, then fill with water to the very top. It only takes 5 hours to get them perfect, but leaving it longer is fine -- I've let it go for up to 12 hours and it's still awesome. Note: if cooked longer than 5 hours, it does create a crust of overcooked oats around the edges. This is no big deal because the crusty oats stick to the sides and don't come out when serving, only the perfectly cooked center portion comes out. You only lose about 10 or 15 percent of the oats to the sides.
To clean, fill with water, and the overcooked oats soak up the water and a become soft to easily remove in an hour or so (or later that night when you're ready to use it again). Or you can use a plastic scraper to get them out with some water immediately. Usually, I put the oats and water in and plug it in at about 10PM, and at 7AM there is a nice healthy breakfast waiting and ready. To cool off the oats to edible temperature, I mix in some frozen blueberries (or fresh blueberries with almond milk), and the meal is ready in seconds.

Product is fine, just fyi, lid is made of lightweight plastic, not glass. I weigh mine down to keep so much steam from coming out. Works fine, though.

I have have had my little dipper for Many years. Originally got it with larger crockpot which has since been replaced. Is great for party dips or heating leftovers. Since I am a widow it comes in very handy for my small meals. Used it extensively when my late husband was dying to fix my own supper as I had to prepare special meals for him. Saved me so much time, as I would be exhausted after getting him settled for the night, then my meal was all ready for me to sit down and eat. Thank you so much for your great product.

This item is exactly as expected from Crock-Pot. Have bought several products of theirs over the years. Never been disappointed. However I am not happy about the misleading advertising about the Little Dipper. I hope it is not an indication of a decline in product quality. Described as having a Glass Lid. Plastic is not glass. Miss leading description, close to Deceptive Advertising. Either include a Glass Lid or remove it from the product description.

My Little Dipper came with my Crock Pot. I’ve had it for years and just decided to use it. Kept my dip warm at Super Bowl party. Started to bubble up at some point. I just unplugged it and dip stayed warm. It came with the plastic lid. Worked great to keep dip covered.

Gets way too hot ~ Burns Dips

I have owned this for a few years now. Every time I try to use it I am reminded why I don’t use it. It gets way too hot and burns whatever dip you are attempting to keep warm. Actually crusts on the edges and burns the bottom. It’s pretty useless!

This is great for the first 1/2 hour or so, but then the contents get too hot because there's not an option for a low/warm/off setting. Would be very helpful since the volume begins to diminish but the heat stays the same, making it seem even hotter than it was when still full of dip or whatever. Eager to see an updated version at some point!
