Product with short lifespan

Came with house, purchased new in 2012. Just stopped heating food. Unacceptable for a brand like KitchenAid. The microwave internal lightbulb has outlasted the heating capability of the appliance.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Short Life Span

How sad. After just 4 years of use in a 2 person family home, this appliance is dead. We bought all new KitchenAid appliances for our new home and in just 4 years, we've replaced the dishwasher and now this microwave. We had to pull out my cheap, old GE Microwave that I've had for YEARS to replace this expensive, years newer model. Needless to say, KitchenAid is not winning my heart and we will think twice about replacing with this brand in future.

Died on us after only 3 years of use

Microwave is dead after only 3 years of use. I have an old GE countertop that I lugged up from the basement to replace it. The GE is over 15 years old and still works like a charm. I was never too fond of the Kitchen aid as it doesn't have a defrost feature. Would not buy again however it fits the trim kit already installed in our island so I guess we will have to.

The door latch stopped working. Once I figured out how to get into it using a flat tool, the oven would not work. Disappointed. I have a GE that has lasted a lot longer than this kitchen aid:
model kcms2055sss1 serial fgy4407729.
