my first windows phone

this was my first major smartphone. my dad has the note my sister has apple. I can just say that the only drawback you will ever think is some of the apps that aren't found in the store.

Super phone, but battery life leaves MUCH to be desired....

Coming from a flip phone to the smart phone platform took some getting used to. Overwhelming? Yes. Innovative for a smartphone user? Yes. I still only consider this to use as a phone, as computer technology surrounds me daily. Fantastic reception, clear, crisp image. The one major complaint which I can't seem to figure out; battery life! I take it off of a wall charger from overnight charge, and by 11am with little to no use, it's down to 20% or less charge!!!! Have got all unnecessary functions and features turned off to conserve power, which is somewhat self-defeating for having a smart phone. My Motorola V990 would last 5 days before a charge. This phone; half a day. Even with doing all the required software updates and online research on this problem, issue resolve still eludes me.

WP 8.1 is great on this phone, but needs Cisco VPN, a Nook ereader, and better battery life

I got this phone (a refurb) one week ago. It had WP 8. Setup was smooth, and I was impressed with the snappy response, brilliant screen, and nice camera. Features such as linked email boxes, the people hub, and the office hub were great. Easy integration with my employer's Office365 subscription and OneDrive make my life easier.
I installed the developer preview of WP 8.1 on Monday and am thrilled with it. No hangs, only a couple of issues that required uninstalling and reinstalling apps to correct, and some great additions like the 3 column start page, the notification center, and quiet hours. Data sense is also cool.
There are still 2 important things missing for me, though - Cisco VPN (which my company requires) and a Nook ereader (I don't want to abandon my ebooks). Give me those 2 things and up the battery life so it gets through the day under heavy use, and I'll be thrilled.

I JUST LOVE MY NEW PHONE!! all the people tell me that is a good looking phone, its fast and smooth, really good battery life during th ewhole day, and great features, when it comes to music the best!!! LOVE IT, great camera also, i really recomed this phone and its not expensive

The Phone, camera and sync. are all great. Battery live is very short. Does any one know how to extend battery life?

Functional and Simple = Beautiful

This is the phone that I gave up android OS phones to own, and I have never regretted the decision.
In a year and a half, I have only once had a problem with my phone after it fell while I was on a ladder at work. After a hard reset, it has once again been fully functional - good as new - for several days. I panicked at the thought of not finding this exact same phone for several reasons. Thus I am here to review it in hopes there will be a better model in the future.
Yes it is heavy, but it has a comfortable weight and feel. The camera doesn't protrude from the phone and the case and screen itself are very durable. The OS itself is very functional allowing me to maximize my screen space by displaying information for my most important apps at a glance while keeping everything organized and displaying my favorite pictures on a loop. The nokia music app that allows an offline cache of a mix radio for free is amazing. The sound is excellent even when loud. The camera takes excellent photos despite my natural talent for taking bad ones. The videos are clear and beautiful as well. SkyDrive is seamless in backing up photos and files. To top everything off, this phone has built in wireless charging and came with a free charging pad with my upgrade offer. The battery life is definitely top tier lasting my whole day. There have been maybe a half dozen times I've borrowed someone's charger at work and actually plugged my phone in all this time. It was usually because I had forgot to set it down on top of my charger the night before. Otherwise setting it down on my desk on its charger and forgetting about it until my morning alarm is the easiest and most convenient part of my daily routine.
I love the color red for the phone's body. I wish there were more options to customize the sound settings for text messages.
I intend to keep this phone for as long as it will keep me.
