Hammer Effect and terrible smell

We bought this unit about 8 years ago and have put up with it long enough. The incredibly loud hammer noise when the water fills we are concerned damages our pipes. Worse is the incredible mold build up on the rubber gasket and the bad smell coming from within the dryer AND the clothes thereafter. Even while using Alfresh. I see other similar reviews and yet they somehow have 5 stars. Is LG changing the star rating on these???? If so that would be false and misleading advertising/misrepresentation. We'll see if this review stars get changed from the 2 stars that this deserves.

When it's good, it's good; when it's dumb ...

Generally, we like this machine. But there are three DUMB design issues: (1) we wanted the base, but we have (per code) a tray that the washer sits in to catch spills, the drawer will not open because of the 2" lip of the tray ... you could have designed for this; (2) You can switch the swing of the matching dryer; so why didn't you allow the washer door to be reversed ... or had a reverse swing model ... we can't change which one goes on the right or left.... DUMB design issue; and (3) everyone knows that residual moisture is a problem in front loaders, so why isn't there a little heater and fan that runs to dry the inside of the tank...one with a humidity sensor on the exhaust port to shut off the fan/heater when the job is done? DUMB, really dumb design issues.

WM3570 Owner's Manual, Page 23 "Cycle Guide", under "Cycle"; "Cotton/Normal"; you will see the asterisks indicating the "Basic Option (*=DEFAULT)". To the right of this column you will see "Additional Options". This is incorrect BUYERS!!!! THE TRUTH: TURBO WASH is set on a permament default on "Cotton/Normal" cycle. You cannot change this even though the manual says it's an option. To me, I'd rather have the option (as advertised and as written in the Manual). This is misleading and false advertisement.

I am VERY DISSATISFIED with this washing machine. Front door leaked immediately. The seal is poorly designed as it is not a perfect fit between the drum and the glass door. Repair man came out and said "one hair" would cause it to leak and it must be cleaned after every use (door and seal wiped down).

Great Machine

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love the machine and how quiet it is compared to my other front loaders (one of the first models-2005-Kenmore). LG has lots of great features and washing programs. Got My machine on Dec 12 2015 and yet to figure out what the Tag on feature does. Trying to tag these to my LG4 phone (LG to LG think it would be a breeze really) and I either do not have the right app or I just don't know what this feature does for things Major disappointment is the pedestal height. For these large capacity machines the pedestal does not hold a bottle of detergent, bleach, softener or soap taller than 10.5". Seems to be a huge design failure. Still love to do laundry with them though.
