soooo sad!
on January 6, 2011

Was so excited to cook Thanksgiving in my new kitchen on my new cook top....WAS!
went to clean up, and now my cook top is covered in scratches and stains!
Have used only a wet sponge or soft dish rag..NOTHING to scour and it is scratched up beyond belief!
A small amount of water overflowed the pot while boiling, it left a STAIN/WATER SPOT, that i CANNOT get rid of!
I even used the provided cleaner...that is a JOKE! it's so oily all it does is attract dust!
I used a stainless cleaner to remove the water stain, no luck.
the more I wipe up, the more it scratches...
i wish i could return this cook top.
perhaps electrolux should stick with vacuums?

Now we're cookin' with gas!

The cooktop is a great product. We live in hurricane alley--no power, no cooking...not anymore, BABY! Generator for the lights and cooking with gas!
Whether it's quick to boil or slow simmer--breakfast, lunch or dinner, the 36" Electrolux gas cooktop is a real winner. We expect many, many years of reliable service. I don't mind paying for a product if it delivers and this one does.

plastic knobs melt and break!
on March 1, 2013

The knobs to control the flames are made of cheap plastic so they melt when you use any large skillets or pots. In addition the sleeve of the know which fits over the burner control is plastic and breaks with normal use. They are $35 a piece to replace and I have now replaced the entire set three times! It's very frustrating and I would never buy this cooktop again.

going forward

One of the principal design features I find most enjoyable is the center, elevated and tilted control knobs. This feature allows me to check the burner status from anywhere in the kitchen, a real plus for safety. My only downside comment is that the grate design around the "small" 5,000 btu burner is not adequate to keep a small diameter pan stable, especially a saute' pan. I know "styling" is often paramount but I am a design engineer and I would consider the current arrangement poor design.

Wonderful stove...just needs one minor upgrade

I've wanted a gas cooktop for years, especially a 36."  When I chose Electrolux ovens, it made sense to also look at the gas cooktop, too.  I loved the design, the deep well, the 5 burners, with the large central burner and the ease of moving a large pot from one burner to another. The only feature lacking is a light that indicates whether a particular burner is on.  I have left the burner almost but not quite off a few times, and smelled gas as a result.  Other than that one feature, this is a great cooktop, looks great in my kitchen, and cooks food fast or slow, depending on my command!

the good, the bad, and the ugly
on February 8, 2011

The variety of burner sizes is convenient, and there is good control of temperature settings. After a year, I feel I'm still learning how to get the center 2-ring burner to ignite, as it's tricky. Now that I have a continuous grate, I understand why they are considered convenient. I appreciate that the knobs are metal so they don't melt if a hot baking pan out of the oven happens to land on top of one. (I have friends with other cooktop brands where the knobs melt.)
The biggest detriment to this cooktop is the metal surface, which scratches way too easily when cleaning up stuck spills or food particles. The first time I used the slightly rough side of a sponge rated safe on nonstick and Calphalon surfaces, it scratched the metal near the burner, leaving a pretty unslightly area, before I realized what was happening. I learned from that experience, and now know to use only a soft sponge, but even that sometimes creates scratches. After cleaning, I like to rub the metal with a cloth dish towel to shine it up and remove water marks, and even the towel sometimes leaves small scratches, both on the cooktop surface and on the metal plate around the knobs. Why create a cooktop that shines and looks good in the showroom, if it can't hold up to normal cleaning and soon looks like a well-worn product?

Knobs

I purchased my electrolux cooktop about 5 months ago. The black is wearing off of the knobs already. This is pretty bad for what I paid for this and it is already wearing off on the knobs.
