This robot is amazing! I was reluctant to purchase one, but my boyfriend wanted it for christmas. Best purchase ever! We run "Rosie" everyday, we have a German Shorthair Pointer and a Boston Terrier that run the house. We use it mostly in our kitchen, living room, and down our hallway which are wood floors. Does a GREAT job. The only downside, we have WHITE base board floor trim that the robot is leaving nasty black marks all over, I am going to have to re-paint AGAIN. Otherwise, this cute little thing really works!!! I wish they would make a bumper guard made from soft felt that would help protect my trim.
Pros: Cleans Effectively, Covers Entire Room, Hassle Free Operation, Large Debris Bin, Pet Friendly
Cons: Can Get Stuck, Gets lost from home base, Leaves black marks

Good cleaning but delicate parts

I purchased the iRobot to help control the accumulation of pet hair. It does that admirably well. There are a few problems with the unit however. First, it often becomes wedged under furniture. Fortunately it turns itself off at those times. Second, the side brushes are extremely delicate. It tends to break easily when it catches on carpets or on furniture edges. I've lost several brushes in a short period of time. Still, the robot does exceptionally well with the task for which I purchased it--it operates automatically throughout the week and picks up an amazing amount of dirt and animal fur. It is also easy to clean.
Pros: Cleans Effectively, Cleans Under Furniture, Covers Entire Room, Hassle Free Operation, Pet Friendly
Cons: Can Get Stuck, Delicate Parts

Two cat household

I was in love with my Discovery. This version is a great leap forward, with it's ability to communicate with the lighthouses. I giggled like a little girl when they guided my tired Roomba through the house, back to it's home base. It still vacuums like an idiot would, but now with the scheduling and the room-by-room gate system, it is an efficient idiot. If you have shedding, litter-tracking cats like we do, Roomba is a huge help. To quote my wife "The fact that it vacuums under the bed, makes it worth the price."
Pros: Cleans Effectively, Cleans Under Furniture, Relatively Quiet
Cons: Random cleaning pattern

This is our second Roomba. The first one was an older model and I used it so much it died. I've had the new one for several years and it is GREAT. I use it everyday to clean up the food off the floor under the dining table. The battery life is very good and I think it does a really good job of cleaning the floors. I can't really say anything bad about it, except my that I wish I knew how to get it to speak English again. My kids somehow got it into an Asian language. Even so, we still get a good laugh when it gets stuck or has a low battery. Roberto*retired Robota - going strong!
Pros: Easy To Empty, Easy To Use, Efficient, Lightweight
Cons: Noisy

I love my Roomba 560!

With two indoor short hair dogs, we just couldn't keep up with the shedding. We have hardwood floors. The Roomba is programmed to run everyday just as we get home from work. While it runs on its own, it is still good to check on it occasionally to insure perfect operation. It has became hung up on high floor vent covers and small power adapter cords left in the floor of my sons room. Our floors have never looked so good since we got the Roomba 560. The only con might be it requires a brush cleaning due to my wife shedding long hairs that become wrapped around the brushes. We normally do this when we do the daily dust bin empty, and it only takes a couple minutes. I am now considering buying a Scooba to program to run about 2 hours after the Roomba sweeps.
Pros: A floors best friend, Easy To Empty, Easy To Use, Efficient, Lightweight, Powerful/Good Suction
Cons: Daily brush clean of hair

I am unable to use reg upright vacuume cleaner due to a lumbar disc deasease and root unjury so this really was a blessing to me as I was so worried as to what I would do. I did not want to have to have anyone come in and vacuum so this was the answer. I am able to dust fairly well so this Robot takes care of the floor. I really do love it. It is now my family. (: smile smile
Pros: Easy To Empty, Easy To Use, Efficient, Great for a disabled pers, Lightweight, Long Power Cord, Powerful/Good Suction
Cons: Non of these apply

Not a problem in 2 years

I thought long and hard before spending money on this robot. In fact, it took me a year to talk myself into it. I shouldn't have waited. I love my robot. Sure, it's a little noisy but I just make sure we aren't in the same room together. Problem solved. I use it only when I'm at home because there are a couple of spots where Andy (his name) likes to get stuck. I found a great way to get the hair out of the rollers. Go buy yourself a pair of micro tip easy action scissors. They are actually made for people with arthritis and to perform intricate work with fabrics. Just be careful not to cut the rubber rollers. These scissors are sharp! And seriously, I do not know why people have so many problems with these robots. If you perform the regular maintenance required, your robot will work long and hard for you.
Pros: Easy To Empty, Easy To Use, Efficient

Awesome, but...

We have hardwoods and 2 dogs, three cats. I was always amazed at how much fur we would sweep up daily. Now I'm amazed at how clean the floors are and how much we empty daily from the bin in Roomba. The first time Roomba ventured under a bed it announced an error code because it was full due to the area being so filthy. It cleans the throw rugs just as well as the hardwoods. The only con I can think of is it's a little noisy and it drives the dogs nuts so I wouldn't schedule it for the middle of the night. We've only had it a week so hopefully they'll adjust. I wouldn't trade the suction for less noise.
