This thing is really incredible, as an engineer I appreciate the computer program and multiple sensors involved. You can even program it to come on and do the floors late at night on selected days, he doesn't care about cords and heavy carpet fringe, automatically adjusts itself to any floor type, And goes back to his charging station and plugs himself in when he is getting low! Wife Loved getting it for Christmas. (Remember guys, Never get her anything with a Handle.......)
Pros: Easy To Empty, Easy To Use, Efficient, Powerful/Good Suction
Cons: Charging Cord too short

Everything breaks just out of warrany

How sad this didn't last! I'm disabled, and my Roomba was a godsend. I have pets, and it did a fantastic job, when I was unable to vacuum consistently myself. It was really everything I could ask for. But the battery started running shorter and shorter times, degenerating at such a slow pace that I didn't realize how dead it was until it only ran for about 20 min after a full overnight charge. I contacted customer support, who were extremely helpful, and tried all the tricks to get it to work again. Sadly, they declared the battery dead, so I paid $50 for a new one. It came - and also did not charge completely. Then the on button broke and would not depress, so I couldn't even turn on the Roomba anymore. It was just out of warranty when all of this happened (by just 2 weeks or so), and thus iRobot did not fix the problem. My Roomba was wonderful, but what is the point of an excellent vacuum if it doesn't work one year later? The lesson here - don't get just a one-year warranty, because your robot will fail just after the warranty expires. Also, you may want to refer to the battery reviews for the 500 series, which I discovered only after mine failed: [@]
Pros: Cleans Great, Easy To Empty, Easy To Use, Efficient, Great for Disabled, Lightweight
Cons: Breaks just of warranty

Our Miss Piggy is great

We do not program it because we are retired and don't want the noise at night as we have an open house. We are thinking of getting another to clean the foyer daily during the mud seasons. This is the best thing since the wheel. We have had it a year and if it breaks tomorrow we buy another. We are having family here this weekend and so vacuumed the living room, dining-kitchen, and downstairs in three shifts today while we dusted, picked up and cleaned the bathrooms while Miss Piggy did her thing. I can not see why there are not 300 mil running around the US as that is the population, one for everyone. Everyone should have one. I would rather take 3 minutes to clean the brushes then 3 hours to vacuum. It is a no brainer. Why are you sitting here reading this when you could be out buying a Roomba?
Pros: Easy To Empty, We can do other things, We don't have to vacuum
Cons: Spend 2 much time watchng

The best present I EVER received
on October 28, 2011

I had seen Roombas and thought they were probably another gimic. I got one for Christmas from my in-laws and held out judgment until I could use it. To my surprise, it turned out to be the best present I have ever received. I come home to a freshly vacuumed house daily. When company drops in, I never feel that my carpets are dirty looking which makes my whole house feel cleaner. I especially like that it has kept those hard to reach areas under the beds lint and feather free. The only con about it is that occassionally I have to play, "where is Roomba" when I get home from work. Sometimes it is sittin in the middle of a room not even stuck on anything. I just press the buttom and start it again and it finishes the job. Maybe it just needed a rest since I work it so hard all week long!
Pros: Cleans my whole house, Cleans on a schedule, Doesn't fall down stairs, Easy To Empty, Easy To Use, Efficient, My house is cleaner, Picks up all debris, Powerful/Good Suction
Cons: Dies for no reason, Noisy

I have had my Roomba for three years now, only needed a new battery. I love it. I have two shedding German Shepherds who are in and out all the time. It does a good job picking up their hair, and I'm always amazed at how much dirt it picks up on every clean even though the the floors look good. I will never be without one.
Pros: Easy To Empty, Easy To Use, Efficient, Lightweight

Only one thing to say : For the first use, remove carefuly the stick which blocks the battery, else you will have an error (err 5) during the charge. I had this problem, but all was OK after removed, cleaning the battery and re-put it. Now all is great, no problem !!!
Pros: Easy To Empty, Easy To Use, Efficient

3 Long Haired Cats-Love IT!!!!

I have 3 long haired cats who I adore but....their hair is everywhere! We have hardwood and tile floors and area rugs. I was skeptical about the Roomba being able to handle all of the hair, especially on the area rugs, but it gets the job done. It even cleared out the hair under the bed which hasn't been swept in probably over a month...(woops.) You definitely do have to perform daily maintenance of cleaning the brushes but that only takes about 5 minutes. I'd rather spend 5 minutes cleaning brushes than 30 minutes vacuuming up cat hair. Another thing i love....when I get home from work there are no cat hair tumbleweeds rolling across my floors! I'm thinking of buying a second Roomba for our finished basement. I definitely think it's money well spent. I wouldn't say that it totally replaces regular vacuuming but it helps cut back on how much vacuuming you have to do, which is why I bought it. Do not buy this product if you are not going to spend the time cleaning out the brushes after each use or you will not be happy.
Pros: Cleans Effectively, Cleans Under Furniture, Covers Entire Room, Hassle Free Operation, Pet Friendly
Cons: Frequent Maintenance
