Pleasantly Surprised & Sharing w.Others

We first saw the iRoomba in action at a friend's house, and immediately wanted one. From the first day we opened the box and turned it on -- we were quite impressed! Since then, I have told my co-workers and friends about how effective and easy it is. My mother in-law commented, "just think, we used to push one of these corded-things around the room, now the idea of it seems so silly!" Yes, it is a bit noisy and it does have trouble with table legs, plant stands and dark furniture, but the fact is it consistently cleans floor surfaces better than we do and keeps the dust and dirt down - as well as preventing those accumulating "dust bunnies" from reproducing! I never thought I'd be excited about a robotic vacuum cleaner.
Pros: Cleans Effectively, Cleans Under Furniture, Consistent, Covers Entire Room, Hassle Free Operation, Pet Friendly
Cons: Can Get Stuck, Frequent Maintenance, Loud Operation, Sensors around Furniture

Too much fixing required

This Roomba worked well for a couple of months until it would not run more than a couple of minutes without stopping and saying, "Remove and clean Roomba's brushes." I'd clean them and it would stop again and again saying the same thing. I finally took it back to the store. I have an old Discovery Roomba model that I use again after buying another battery for it. This is the third battery I have bought for it, but it works well with a new battery.
Pros: Covers Entire Room, Large Debris Bin, Pet Friendly
Cons: Can Get Stuck, Frequent Maintenance

Over Priced Noise Machine

I'm a long-time supporter of iRobot products and I have had our 560 for well over 3 years. I have to say I'm really unhappy with it. At first I was amazed at how little I had to vacuum. Then, after awhile, I noticed how random and weak the thing is. Now it gets stuck in corners and repeatedly goes to the same areas REGARDLESS OF HOW CLEAN THEY ARE. And if it's in the wrong place I've taken to just kicking it around until it goes where I want it to. It is not intelligent, does not clean heavy areas, gets stuck in corners, and overall just gets too clogged to do any good. If this was a Dustbuster on wheels it MIGHT do a good job but I'm generally unhappy with it simply due to the "useful-to-novelty" ratio. As I type this it's banging into the legs of my furniture creating dents and chipping paint and is already plugged with who knows what. It's a disaster around pet bowls and leaves huge balls of hair around the edges of area rugs. Once it gets a little cat hair in it it's done for the day; even if the bin is empty you still have to pull the whole thing apart and clean the hair out of it. And it sounds like a jet engine. Save your money and by a real vacuum. It takes 10 mins and you do a better job that this waste of money. The Roomba is a [$] piece of cheap junk.

Hello I'm a customer from China and I bought this stuff 3 years ago when I was traveling in the states. I have to say that it is a very awesome piece that integrates state of art and modern technology (just like Apple :)). Besides all the pros that other comments have addressed, I have to talk about some cons: First, it is pretty noisy, and we could only use it during the daytime to avoid noise bothersome; second, since I'm using it in Mainland China, and our voltage rating is 220V, but the model we bought is 110V, so I need to use an extra power generator to provide the juice, which becomes messy with all the wires and cordsets. I tried to buy one 220V adaptor and it cost 360RMB (60USD) to get one and I gave up. I'd rather Irobot could consider to make a unversal adaptor so that it could really beomce a "global" product. Except above 2 points, I'm very satisfied with the quality and I have just moved to a new house and Roomba 560 becomes the best cleaner.

Cons: No universal power cord, Noisy

Makes my life easier

We have two homes (one in Pennsylvania in the summer and one if Florida in the winter). We have this vacuum in each home. We have carpet, hardwood floors, and ceramic tile floors. This vacuum does an excellent job on all surfaces. We use the machine about twice a week and clean the machine after each use. Even though we use professional cleaning services for our homes, they do not vacuum because we find that the robot does an outstanding job.
