Lots of Cleaning & Replacement Parts

We have two dogs and a kid with some allergies (not to dogs). We use Roomba daily to reduce the allergens and to pick up dog hair and dirt. On the plus side, Roomba vacuums much more frequently than we do. On the down side, it does an OK job cleaning, but not a thorough job. Also, the Roomba needs to be cleaned (brushes, container, and wipe down unit) after each use, which takes about 15 minutes per day. Also, the whole unit needs to be cleaned thoroughly once per week, which takes about 45 minutes. I still save time over vacuuming every day, but I didn't expect to spend this much time. (There are videos detailing how to clean the unit on the iRobot site, but you have to dig. We do exactly what the manufacturer suggests.) Most importantly, the motor breaks every 3-6 months. They will replace it for the first year, but after the first year, plan on spending $100-200 on maintenance for the motor alone. With every sales rep that I talked to, they dismissed the motor dying as "you have pets, the motor won't last." This response is disappointing because I specifically got the "pet" model...one would think the pet model would work with pets! But, it doesn't. Overall, I like the model, but these comments and criticisms have been consistent for about a decade from many, many users, and Roomba hasn't fixed these design flaws. :(

Scratches Wood Floors!!!!

I was very happy to get the Roomba as a solution to constant dust on my brand new wood floors...EXTREMELY disappointed that Roomba scratched my brand new floors thoughtout!!!

Time saver!

I own my roomba 560 for 2 months now and it still amazes all of us. It runs on a daily schedule and our living room was never so clean! The only cons is that our house is too big for it and if we don`t close some doors (the two virtual walls are not enough) it takes too much time to complete the cleaning process. Then we move it to the next room and press "clean" and wait till it ends, and so on. Beside that, its an excellent product, and I am thinking in buying a couple more for present.
Pros: Easy To Use, Efficient, Lightweight, Powerful/Good Suction, Quiet
Cons: 220V ver not available

The Best Thing Since Sliced Bread

I'm old enough to remember the expression, "The best thing since sliced bread." I bought my Roomba at our local Canadian Tire, fully expecting to try it out but return it as not doing the job. Well, it is brilliant. I have a great deal of antique furniture and two cats and two short haired double coated dogs who never stop shedding. My floors were a permanent embarrassment. I don't have one single complaint. Even the baseboards are cleaner than they used to be. My one concern is where to buy the batteries, locally rather than ordering on line and having to pay duty and clearing costs through Canadian customs. I'm not exactly sure where my Roomba stopped being an "it" and became a "he". But it is a permanent member of my family!
Pros: Easy To Empty, Easy To Use, Efficient, Lightweight, Long Power Cord, Powerful/Good Suction
Cons: Local Battery Purchase

Great but what those baseboards

I've wanted one of these forever. I love it, come home and the carpet always looks great. However, I've noticed over a couple of years that my white base boards have black marks in them. Particularly where the roomba frequently hits them. Maybe I should have gotten the white one. Also, since my fiancé moved in I have to cut hair off the brush after almost every use. This has become somewhat annoying. Still I plan on using it until it dies then will get another one.
Pros: Decent vacuum job, Easy To Use
Cons: Hard To Clean, Has to be cleaned, Marks up baseboards

When I got my iRobot I was amazed of what it could do. My old vacume couldn't do what the iRobot could. I put it on it's timer every day and it goes on automatically, that is a great feauture. It is so great that I bought one for my friend and one for my mom. I do not regret getting the iRobot. :)

What a increadible little thing. We got a samsung robot cleaner but we were not satisfy with it. So we buy the irobot 565 and what a differance between both machine, the irobot is a lot better on everything even the price is lower. It clean all corner and wall edge and it is a lot faster. You can go wrong with this cleaner...
