Why did I wait so long to get one?

I bought two. My daughter uses it in her small apartment with hardwood floors. She loves it because it gets all the dust that comes through old windows without good seals. It almost seems to polish the floors because all the dust is gone. We use ours on all surfaces including carpet, tile and hardwood. It has almost replaced my vacuum and sure is a lot less expensive than a cleaning service. We had black dog hairs along every baseboard and weekly cleaning just was not enough. Running the robot takes care of most of this without much effort on our part. The fact that it cleans under the couch and the bed is fantastic, even places where the vacuum does not reach. It is a little noisy but I will take the noise over the dog hair any day.
Pros: Easy To Empty, Easy To Use, Efficient, Lightweight, Powerful/Good Suction
Cons: Noisy

The honeymoon won't last

When I first got the robot, I was in a honey moon. I'd watch it move on its own. I'd be mesmerized by it working around obstacles. Then, I found out that it misses stuff. It runs over dirt and leaves the dirt on the carpet. However, shear repetition of running it multiple times a week, gets the carpet cleaner than the maid service. After a few months, I noticed that the driving algorithm is really dumb. Put two obstacles at the right angle. The idiot robot will bounce into one, turn around to bounce into the other and get stuck. Coming home after work to play hide and seek to where the thing got stuck again gets tiring. Then, the battery gives out. And, the poor thing stops dead after a few minutes. It's easy to replace, if you got the money for that expensive part. Now, the thing has beaten itself up so much that the visual center won't let it dock anymore. The wheels are off. It can't go straight anymore. It stops every 60 seconds, because it complains about the brushes. The brushes have been cleaned over and over. The top of it is scratched up badly from places it ran under that it found too low. And, oh yeah, all my furniture has lines from the dumb thing whacking over and over into it. If there were a decent competitor to iRobot, I'd switch to them in a hard beat. However, the convenience of a robot cleaning, makes me shell out the enormous amount of money to get another one. I just hope that it'll last a little longer.
Pros: Cleaner than hand vacuum, Works by itself
Cons: Bangs up your furniture, Gets stuck, Not Durable

Dont waste your money like I did

While it lasted it was great-however, after only a year and half of use it stops working properly. When I turn it on it just goes in circles-it backs up, and tries to move forward but wont. I regularly clean my roomba and take care of it. I have another I have had for 7 years that works just fine. This one, however, is a piece of... I called customer service today to explain the issue and to see about sending it in for service or getting parts. They told me there was no way to fix it, that it was a sensor problem, and immediately went into a sales pitch trying to get me to buy another one. Who in their right mind would buy another product that lasts such a short time? I later got an email and another phone call again with the sales pitch... This is overpriced for what you get.
Cons: Poor Design, Unreliable

In love with my Roomba

Vacuuming is my all-time, least favorite chore, to the point where the house would spotless except for the floors, which I maybe got around to once a month, (gross, I know). The Roomba doesn't totally replace the vacuum, but at least now the house is getting light-vacuumed once a day. We got the pet model, and Harry does well with the hardwood floors and tile floors, but only so-so with the carpets. Our dog and cat generate a lot of pet hair, and he can't quite get the hair out of the carpet, but he does get the dust and dirt everywhere else. The big vacuum will still be needed for deeper cleans, but Harry has made the house a lot cleaner overall. He takes quite a long time to do a room, but I think our open floor plan confuses him and he can't get back to his base station easily when he wants to. However, I'm happy that he hasn't fallen over the loft-- he really does a good job at stopping at edges and tracing along corners. I'm also pleased that I can let him run loose, even with cords out. He does force me to pick up the house each day so he doesn't choke on a cat toy, but that's not the end of the world. He's quiet enough that we can have a conversation while he's in the room, but I wouldn't run him while sleeping. Maintenance is easy, and the amount of junk that comes out of the bin tells me he's getting a lot more than I think out of the carpets. My productivity is slightly down however, because we all tend to sit around and watch him do his thing. The animals aren't sure whether this is a new pet or what, but they adjusted to his presence without a problem in just a day or so. I love him, and Harry has made me feel like I'm keeping a cleaner home. My lovely DH is less sure of him so far, but then again, he never had to do the vacuuming, so his opinion doesn't really count. Harry is an expensive little luxury, but so far, so good!

Broken after less than 2 years

Worked great until it broke. Better if fewer obstacles and hardwood. Unfortunately it broke in less than 2 years and I will have to replace the chassis. Some small switch on the bumper and I have to replace the whole main mechanism. Seems like you should be able to just get the switch fixed. Also note I paid $100 less for this 23 months ago. Wouldn't buy it for that price. Most things drop in price as new models come out. This is crazy marketing. Don't think I want to shell out big bucks to fix or replace.
Pros: Easy To Empty, Easy To Use, Efficient

Best cleaning service ever!

I use my Roomba few times a week to clean my three stories apartment. I gave away my heavy vacuum cleaner, because Roomba was lighter and vacuums for itself. It cleans the thin hair my schnauzer leaves on the floor and goes over small area rugs without problem. I have been using it for a few years and I love it. I use the vacuum time to play with my daughter and do other things around the house.

when i first got it... i loved it & recomended it to everyone i know, but now i would not recomended... over the years i had 4 roombas and scooba... the cost is too expensive compared to the use... none of them went even a year without stuff needing replacement (i don't even use it every day): brushes, batteries, wheels... And this stuff is not cheap, on top of paying almost $600 you spend hundreds more to be able to use it and this stuff doesn't even last a year... ther are cheaper ones available and you can buy a regular vacuum cleaner it will cost less and last you for years... bottom line it is not worth the money...
Pros: Easy To Use
