overall a surprisingly effective cleaning tool. unfortunately the spinning edge brush broke after less than 3 days, i'm hoping that this won't be a ongoing problem. i suggest getting the extra brushes. roomba is great for wood floors and it really grabs pet hair well. some thicker and loosely woven rugs will occasionally hang it up for a moment but it always gets itself loose. our cats don't seem to mind it at all and they like to follow it about.
Pros: Cleans Effectively, Cleans Under Furniture, Covers Entire Room, Fun Too Watch, Hassle Free Operation, Long Run Time, Pet Friendly
Cons: Edge brush broke, Frequent Maintenance, Needs to be quieter, bot must be cleaned OFTEN

I'm really impressed by the Roomba. I was told i'd need a proper vacuum along with the roomba if i wanted 'clean' floors. I've found the roomba to actually clean up pretty good all by itself. In fact, i'm always surprised at how much dirt it manages to pick up. Actually, the only problem I see is that I always tend to be late in clearing up its bin cuz i never imagine it'll be full so quickly. I think the bin can be a little bit larger. Also .. i must admit .. i love the modular design ... it allows me to take out the brushes and clear them off of hair easily. If the hair could go into the bin rather than getting stuck on the brushes .. it'll be a huge help. Bottom line is ... I dont need to vacuum anymore .. n thats a blessing. I'd absolutely recommend this to anyone living in a place without stairs.
Pros: Cleans Effectively, Hassle Free Operation
Cons: Frequent Maintenance, No bin full warning

Fantastic Product

This is a great product. We've owned two previous generation Roombas, and this one blows them all away. We have all hard flooring in our house with seven kids ages 11 years down to 10 months. Dirt gets everywhere, and you could sweep 10 times a day and not clean effectively enough to keep the 10 month old from getting something off the floor into his mouth! The scheduling ability built into the 560 is fabulous, and makes sure that regular cleaning occurs without question, and the quick battery charge still allows for ad hoc cleaning runs. The new "Lighthouse" virtual wall technology makes sure we don't have to monitor the Roomba to make sure everything we want covered, gets covered. The battery life was one of the main drawbacks of previous models, but not this one. The 560 can do 5 rooms on a charge most days. We will be buying a second 560 for our newly finished basement very soon! The only drawback is that it is extremely loud. You cannot watch television in the same room the Roomba is running in unless you jack the volume way up. With the scheduler this isn't much of a problem as we run it mostly at night after the kids are in bed. Great product.
Pros: Cleans Effectively, Cleans Under Furniture, Covers Entire Room, Long Run Time
Cons: Hair tough to clean out, Loud Operation

Having five kids needs tons of work to keep the floors clean. Lola make it very easy, with no complaints and leave the floors and carpets free of dust and small debris... (the kitchen floor is a mess after the 7 of us finish dinner)
Pros: Clean when I need, Cleans Effectively, Cleans Under Furniture, Covers Entire Room, Deep Cleaning Ability, Hassle Free Operation, Large Debris Bin, Long Run Time
Cons: Does Not Clean Stairs, I only have one

I own 2 Roombas before. The 560 is a much better roomba. It is quiet and it doesn't get stuck easily as the previous model. And all parts are easy to dissemble. I spent a lot of them to clean the pet hair stuck inside the front wheel of my previous roombas. Not anymore with the new one. The front wheel can be dissemble so it save me a lot of maintenance time. And the lighthouse works great too.
Pros: Cleans Effectively, Cleans Under Furniture, Covers Entire Room, Deep Cleaning Ability, Hassle Free Operation, Large Debris Bin, Pet Friendly

Okay... just wrote a huge review then bumped a key on keyboard and lost it. So... this will be short. If you have pets and hard floors, buy it.If you wish you had a live-in maid that swept for you every day, buy it.If you would like your house automatically vacuumed every day, buy it.I strongly recommend investing in the AeroVac bin as it is a HUGE improvement over the stock bin--at least if you have pets (I have 6 cats and 2 dogs.) It basically eliminates the need to clean the sweeper brush as hair never gets wound up like with the normal stock bin with the squeegee-like vacuum nozzle. Before I had the AeroVac bin, I had to clean hair off the sweeper brush in the middle of a cleaning cycle. Now I never have to. Also holds more debris... but enough about the AeroVac bin.The 560's auto scheduling is awesome. It sweeps when I am asleep. Recharges fast and automatically. At some point in the day I usually toss it upstairs and let it go to town up there, too. Docks great--hardly ever do I come downstairs and not find it succuessfully self-docked and charging/charged. I also sweeep my garage with it frequently. Basically, I throw a lot at my Roomba every single day and have been for 4 or 5 months straight with no issues whatsoever. Eventually it will need a new battery or wheel or brush or something, I am sure, but the designers made it with that in mind (very modular contruction) and replacement parts are easily purchased and shipped on this website, and easily installed once you get them. That said, after using my unit more in 4 or 5 months than most people probably do in a year or two, I can say that I see no signs of any impending material breakdowns. The battery still seems to last as long as it did on day one. It is a great product. As an aside, I owned the very first Roomba severeal years ago, used it some but then stopped as it required frequent cleaning of brushes, got tangled in cords, etc. As a consequence, I was reluctant to dive into the world of Roombas again; however, my apprehension has been proved to have been unnecessary. The 500-series Roombas (plus the AeroVac bin) have fixed all the issues I had with the original Roomba and they are obviously much better and more advanced products. (Just mentioning this in case anyone was so-so about the original and reluctant to buy this newer model as a result.)Last, to labor the point, remember to buy the AeroVac bin as it will GREATLY enhance the functioning of the roomba and reduce your time spent maintaining it.
Pros: Easy To Empty, Easy To Use, Efficient, Lightweight, Long Battery Life, Powerful/Good Suction, Saves back
Cons: Noisy

Good idea, but flawed implementation

I had it scheduled to clean my carpeted bedroom every weekday. It even acted as a backup alarm clock. On the weekends, I would carry downstairs and manually start it. It cleaned my living room and kitchen, which are hardwood floors. I thought it did a very good job, but there are two critical problems. First, the hardware is just not up to long term use. The main brush motor failed after five months. It was still in warranty and it was fixed free if charge, although it was gone for about two months while they tried to fix it. I think they eventually sent me a refurbrished one. Unfortunately, that one had the same failure a month later and it was no longer under warranty. There was no way I was going to buy a new one, so I haven't used it since. The second critical flaw only matters if you have nice furniture. Eventually, after months of use, it will leave a mark on everything about an inch or so off the floor. Although it has a feature that slows it down as it approaches and object or a wall, that feature often does not work on a table or chair leg, so they tend to get hit at full speed repeatedly. Over time, it will leave a wear mark all around every leg. It also will leave a black mark around all the baseboard in a room, but I think that is less of a concern. These two problems are deal breakers for me. I cannot recommend it, although in all other respects I was happy with it.
Pros: Keeps the floor clean
Cons: Fails in time, Marks furniture
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
