I was not sure to buy it; however I did and it has been the best decision ever. I have two cats at home and Roomba picks all the hairs and maintans the floor clean.

I am a floor person, need I say more?

I wanted to name Roomba Rosie, but my husband insisted on r2d2, so be it. I love clean floors but I hate to vacuum. Go figure. This machine does for me what I will not do for myself. It is scheduled for daily cleaning and the first few days required several cleanings during it's cycle, now I only clean it twice, once 1/2 way through, if it needs it or not, and at the end, clean and ready for tomorrow. It shows, in the video that is cleans along walls, but what it does not show is how it cleans under chairs. It encircles the leg of the chair and comes out the side/front/back. Under chair areas are cleaned thoroughly! It has lost its way and circled from time to time, but that seems to be the fault of dust on the stairway warning sensors, mostly after it has cleaned the rug. I simply wipe off the dust from the sensors and it's back to work! I hope it lasts for years, as I am considering getting a lesser one for upstairs. One room per day should be enough, since we have only two bedrooms, a junk room, a hallway and bathroom up there.
Pros: Cleans Effectively, Cleans Under Furniture, Covers Entire Room, Hassle Free Operation, Long Run Time, Pet Friendly
Cons: Does Not Clean Stairs, Loud Operation

My family uses it to clean up the fur from our cats and dogs, as well as keep dirt down in the entrance/kithcen. The only bad things are: 1. It gets stuck when skirting under the cabinets in the kitchen (the little knob in the very front prevents it from getting under most of our furniture) 2. I can't find any easy way to hack it, despite my hopes of having a mobile robot platform for trying my programing skills on, and 3. It doesn't seem to like rugs: the anti-tangle system works most of the time, but it still ends up bunching up the lightest rugs and dragging them around, to the great entertainment of our young dog. Otherwise it seems to work beautifully, and it has no problems filling up its bin (might be nice to have an option to use a bag to prevent dust from flying when emptying), is fairly quite, and doesn't unduly disturb the animals, though the cats aren't sure about it yet and the dogs don't like being run into while it is doing the kitchen. The user interface is easy to use, and it is easy to clean.
Pros: Cleans Effectively, Cleans Under Furniture, Covers Entire Room, Pet Friendly
Cons: Can Get Stuck, Can't reprogram or hack, Does Not Clean Stairs, Lost in open flooplan

Liked the Scheduler much better

I am somewhat unhappy with this model. I previously owned a Scheduler and it had a larger bin and collected pet hair much more efficiently. The 560 has teeth in the bin that hampers the ability of the pet hair to go into the bin, collecting on the "teeth" instead. If this had been my first Roomba I would not have bought a second one. I will now look into servicing my Scheduler and put it back to work.
Pros: Cleans Under Furniture, Long Run Time
Cons: Does Not Clean Stairs, Doesn't clean effectively, Frequent Maintenance
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The side brush don't last

I use the robot to clean my house 4 to 5 times a week. It does a good job with dirt but not so good with pet hairs. I have to remove the pet hairs from the brush at least 2 or three times during each operation. When it was still new, the noise was very good, but after a year the noise got louder. The side brush keeps breaking its fingers one at a time. after a couple months all the fingers were gone. I have to change the side brush once every couple of months. Now I cut down the cleaning time to only twice a week instead of 4 to 5 times a week, since the side brushes break very often and they are expensive to replace. [$] i have to keep replacing them once every couple of months, the cost adds up
Pros: Cleans Effectively, Pet Friendly
Cons: Can Get Stuck, Frequent Maintenance, Loud Operation

Good sealing, operation

Two Roomba 560s, one at home and one at college. The one at college we've had for over a year, and are quite fond of it - however, it will get stuck on our new apartment's doorjambs and under an [...] table we have. I find it really annoying that the front clearance of the unit is good enough to make a 1/2-3/4" climb, but the cliff detect sensors are calibrated to less than that (so the unit can get stuck). Also, be prepared to have to wet-sand and buff out the IR proximity sensor cover on the front of the unit - if it starts acting erratically in the middle of a clear floor this may be the cause. The second 560, recently purchased for the home, actually came with a Lighthouse that was dead-on-arrival, and has been used for carpet and dealing with cat fur quite effectively.I'm glad the 560 is better sealed - we previously killed a refurbished Discovery Scheduler at our college apartment due to dust and other grime getting into the electronics (four engineers taking it apart and putting it back together cleanly couldn't solve the problem!), so the modular, well-thought-out design is a huge plus. If the front IR sensor was just a bit more sturdy, and the cliff sensors better designed, this would be a much better product.

The Best Thing Since Sliced Bread!!!!

The 560 is an awesome product, and your best bang for the buck!!! I was skeptical, but it truly is great and the more it's used the less debris I'm having to dump out!!! My home looks spotless and we all can breathe better. The 560 is scheduled to clean everyday and never has a problem with getting stuck. We have 2 cockatiels and it cleans up all the seed and what nots. It cleans the Living Room, Kitchen, Dining Room, and one Bedroom on a single charge and always returns to the charging station. We have no complaints and cleaning out the brush and hair from the ends is no big deal, it is annoying but it beats having to vacuum myself. Clean it everytime and it'll last!!! Buy this product....NO DISAPOINTMENTS!!!! I couldn't be happier with the purchase of this product!!!
