This is likely the best microwave I have used. It plays a polite jingle when it is done. If you forget to take food out after it is done it reminds you politely.
I bought this microwave to match the Jenn-Air range/oven that we were putting in our kitchen. The microwave looked very nice, and I wanted the two appliances to match. However, it has been a huge disappointment. It is very expensive, and yet we already have problems with it (less than 6 months later!). I am getting error messages on the control panel constantly that the door isn't closed, even when it is. I have to open and close the door 10 times to be able to start cooking something. The exhaust fan makes a terribly loud noise and has too many levels/settings (6!) I'm going to try and get it serviced, but I regret buying this appliance. We've bought other brands of microwaves in the past and never had any problems even after years of use. Also you should check its dimensions before purchasing- the door is the entire front of the unit...it's huge and sticks out from my cabinets quite a lot.
First of all, it came damaged. Door was dented. A replacement door came today and it wouldn't work and was damaged. Waiting for another replacement. The microwave is huge...much bigger than we realized for our remodeled kitchen. According to salesperson, this is the size of microwaves. Part of the blame is with the builder. He didn't allow enough room when designing the custom cabinets. Way too big! Hangs to low over stove. Very disappointed in it. I grew up with Jenn-Air appliances and love the new stove, frig and dishwasher but the microwave is a big disappointment.
I am so pleased with my new microwave that I bought and was installed on July 30th. My daughter had foot surgery the week before and my microwave went out and I was leaving for vacation on the 31st, which left her with no microwave to fix her meals. With this as a problem they installed it on the day before I left for vacation. God was looking down on me to save my vacation.
So I try my best to avoid using the microwave...it's pretty much strictly used for leftovers or if I'm heating up something that was frozen for myself. That said, here's what I like about the new Jenn Air Microwave... - Controls - they are super super easy to use, and don't make loud obnoxious noises when pressing on them. Even the beep to notify me when it's done is subtle and audible. - It's easy to open and close - and doesn't make a ton of noise when you do so. Maybe we just inherited a really bad microwave, but our previous one was difficult to open (you had to yank it) and it would make a loud popping noise when you did. Closing it you basically had to slam it or it was popping back in your face. Also, not a quiet thing to do. - Powerful...when you choose the right settings, that thing heats it up quickly! (Recommend getting a splash guard for that reason) - May fan speeds Here's what I'm not such a huge fan of... - It's gigantic. HUGE compared to our previous microwave. Depth-wise, it sticks out so much farther than before and also is a bit taller than our old microwave. Width it's actually the same, but the biggest difference is it's depth...And it actually took me about a week to get used to this gigantic thing hanging over my stove. - There's no handle, so you will get fingerprints on the face of it (and I'm constantly wiping it off as a result)
