Functional & Straightforward Design

This model was a replacement. Since I'm retired and don't cook a whole lot, I wanted a model which would be functional, easy to use without a lot of "bells and whistles". I feel the Whirlpool as met my goals and all results have been satisfactory.

Design concerns

I really am enjoying my new stove, but have a couple of concerns. Before I purchased I read some of the online reviews. People made comment about the sound level, but I thought "it can't be that bad". Well, yes it can. The notification sound of the timer is extremely low/soft. You MUST be in the kitchen to hear it. This makes it so you have to watch how much cooking time is left if you are going to leave the kitchen to be sure to return in time. I also have a concern about the vent at the top- back of the stove for the heat exhaust. I feel this is a poor design feature. My concern is that over time the splatters of grease from cooking may get in the area I can't reach and gum the fan up, causing problems with the exhaust fan, even though I am very careful, and clean the area on top each time after cooking. I like the locking feature of the knobs on the front of the stove to prevent small children from easily turning the burners on. I like the style of the stove, large oven door, large oven capacity. The storage drawer under the oven is difficult and small. It's like putting together a puzzle if I don't get the pans and lids nested back in place "just right". Also, I was surprised at the high price for a slide-in compared to a free-standing. But I was replacing a slide-in and that is the style I needed. I have always been pleased with the life and service I have gotten from Whirlpool products.

A new range after 26 years!

I wanted a range as similar, to my old one. This was it. The only drawback is that the utility draw, at the bottom, is much smaller than the one I had. Also, I have to adjust my recipes, as this range cooks everything faster. I guess, that's a good thing. It appears well made and as a slide-in range, fit the old spot exactly.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Everything works perfectly: range top and oven. Haven't had to use the self-cleaning feature yet.

the right choice

Bought this 8 months ago because I was so unhappy with the new, other brand, stove in home we purchased. I just wanted a straight forward stove that would cook well, that had burners which would regulate easily and on which I could shake a pan if I wanted to. What good cook does not shake a pan? This range was my perfect answer.

Very Good Range

Only real dissatisfaction is with the bottom drawer which droops on one side when closed (all the way in). Otherwise, both performance and appearance of range is very good.
