Excellent Laptop except for SSHD

I just got this laptop a few days ago and it is fantastic. The HD touchscreen and Red backlit keyboard is beautiful. Overall very simple and elegant aesthetically pleasing design. GPU, RAM and CPU are all top of the line and fantastic.
I only have two issues with this laptop.
The hard drive is a 1 TB 5400 RPM drive with an 8 GB NAND SSD component. I will be honest and say it does not perform well at all. I decided to replace it with a 512 GB SSD with my own copy of windows 8.1.
As an example, Skyrim on highest settings runs between 15-25 fps on the original SSHD. On the SSD it runs at 55-60 fps. It also boots faster. The SSHD is a major bottleneck on this laptop.
It's a shame Lenovo does not sell the 512 GB SSD model of this laptop here in Canada like they do in USA.
Other than the SSHD, the fact that it doesn't have an optical drive is the only other problem for me. Although these days optical drives are becoming less and less necessary, it's nice to have for watching movies.
I would recommend this to a friend!

broke down in only a few months

i bought this computer at first and it was great! then, a couple months later it got slower and slower with out any viruses or me downloading a bunch of stuff. if your gona buy this computer it was a big mistake.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Amazing Value!

Love love love this rig! Great i7 processor, ample RAM, boots fast with OS on SSD, tons of storage and bright, vivid HD touchscreen and great JBL speakers! I have had the Y70 for a week now and it has impressed in every way. Quick shipping. Couldn't replicate this with any other vendor in this price range. Nice and thin, screen size well worth the slight tradeoff in weight. Gorgeous aluminum case and slim design means it's more portable than you might think. Only thing I would change is to enlarge and widen the keyboard. That's it. A dream machine, at least for me. Looking forward to Windows 10 on this bad boy.

$1000+ and broke in 4 months

bricked on reboot just after the 4 month mark. Unacceptable for this class of laptop. Its big, its fast, and it broke quick. Would not recommend to friend or family member.

Good laptop, good specs

First time purchasing a lenovo product and I at this moment a don't regret purchasing it. Playing Bf4, Rome 2, HoTs, and planning to play the newer games. Everything runs smooth and fine.
Pros : Fast and quiet, Good specs, lenovo custumer support (I recommend contacting before buying, it's worth it), excellent speakers, slim for those who bring it around.
Cons : Over all good laptop but the fact that it si slim will heat up, it heat's up fast during gaming sessions, so I recommend getting a cooling pad. the 1T + SSHD has great storage but hybrid isn't worth it, but does the work.
Great laptop, I love my purchase, lenovo contact is great.
I would recommend this to a friend!
