Quiet & cleans well. Narrow top for mugs & glasses.

Washes well and quiet but the top rack is hard to fit my mugs & glasses in. Rows too narrow. Wish a row of prongs folded down and that the top rack tilted for tall glasses. Also wish bottom rack had some fold down prongs too.

Doesn't clean dishes
on September 13, 2017

I bought this dishwasher to replace a Whirlpool dishwasher that, after 30 years, finally stopped working. I was hoping for performance equal to or better than the previous Whirlpool dishwasher. I am very disappointed. The dishes don't get clean in this dishwasher. Yes, this dishwasher is quieter than the old, but that's because it's not cleaning. The old Whirlpool dishwasher was louder because it was forcefully moving water around, blasting away food particles. The new dishwasher just lightly tosses around water, in the vain hope that detergent alone will do all the work. The difference between the two dishwashers is like a thunderstorm versus a light rain shower. Needless to say, the light rain shower provided by the new dishwasher does not clean the dishes. Secondly, the dishwasher runs significantly longer. The standard cycle runs nearly three times longer than the standard cycle of the old dishwasher. That's three times longer for dishes that are less clean. The controls on the new dishwasher are all push buttons. There is nothing indicating how far along in the wash cycle you are. Nor is there any way to skip ahead (or back) in the cycle. Want to simply rinse a load? Sorry! Not possible. The old dishwasher had a knob that showed at all times where the dishwasher was in the cycle. And you could move it to whatever cycle you wanted. Want to rinse a load? Easy, simply move the knob to the rinse cycle! The silverware drawer in the door is a nice feature and both the old and new dishwashers have it. Unfortunately, the new dishwasher has a redesigned silverware drawer that doesn't work nearly as well. It is much smaller, thus the silverware can't move around (not that the anemic water pressure has enough strength to do that anyway). And half of the dishwasher drawer is obstructed by the soap dispenser, so you can only put short items in that half. Appearance: ugly gray plastic inside, annoyingly large Whirlpool logo outside. I could go on but I'm out of space.

Dishwasher detergents have removed the phosphates from their formulas due to the government restrictions on its use. As the Department of Energy standards are forcing less energy and water usage, we manufacture units to accommodate and maintain their stringent regulations. This can cause the dishwasher to not clean as expected. Make sure the water heater is set to 120'F, as that is the best temperature to wash dishes in. Make sure the detergent is new, and has not been sitting for any length of time. Run the water in the sink right before starting the dishwasher. As current dishwashers will pull in water for a shorter time than your previous dishwasher, the water that comes in needs to be as hot as possible for better cleaning results. Clean out the bottom of the dishwasher to remove any food particles. You may want to run a vinegar rinse in the dishwasher to remove any food or mineral build up from the pump. Using distilled white vinegar, fill a bowl with one cup of vinegar, place in bottom of dishwasher, open side up in bottom rack, with dishwasher empty. This will help to get rid of any mineral or detergent build up, and allow the spray arm to spray evenly.

Greatest dishwasher

We bought this because of the cycle and the sanitizing. It cleans better and more effective than the higher prices ones. It's super quiet and kid friendly with its one button memory

Flimsy Construction & Poor Instructions
on September 5, 2017

I wanted a basic machine that would just wash dishes, not surf the web. I bought this 5 days ago. Surprised how flimsy the construction seems. The door wiggles and the frame looks like it could cave in on itself without too much effort. The logo applique was bent and I couldn't get it to stick properly to the door so I finally pulled it off rather than have it snag every time I wiped the door off. The instructions do not make it clear that to repeat the previous cycle you have to press Start/Resume TWICE. I stumbled on that by accident and confirmed by downloading instructions for a more expensive machine. That being said, it is quiet and washes the dishes well. Not overloading makes a lot of difference for any machine. I hope it lasts; bought the extended warranty
